Is VBAC more likely if you've been in labour before?

Does anyone know if you have a higher Chance of VBAC success if you have been in labour before? Is there any evidence or is it just anecdotal?

Hello. Your chances of a successful VBAC are increased if you've had a previous vaginal birth. If you laboured but it resulted in an emergency caesarean then your individualised chance of success if dependant on the reason you had the emergency caesarean. For example, if your section was because of malposition, cord prolapse or fetal distress then your VBAC chances are very high. If it was due to true cephelo-pelvic disproportion (difficult to truely diagnose) then your chances are much slimmer.
