I’m about to be induced early due to complications and I’ve read so much negative stories about inductions. Does anyone have a positive induction story to share?

I had an amazing experience with my first being induced, totally manageable and I felt on top of the world. I got a fabulous midwife which really helped. You will be fine, just go with it. When I was told I'd be induced I panicked because it wasn't in my "plan" but I quickly learned to let go, to acknowledge my lack of control over the way it was going to start and to just go with the flow. That helped a lot. The induction will get you going but your body is designed for this, let it take over, quieten your mind and remember your baby is coming to you. Good luck Thanks

I was induced at 37 weeks due to cholestasis. Needed the drip to get things moving after two lots of gel and my waters broken. I found the contractions manageable using techniques from Juju Sundin's book up to transition. Then I told my husband I was probably going to need an epidural so he called the midwife. By the time she came the pain was gone and I was ready to push! At that point I was comfortable sitting on a birthing stool to push. It was a good experience and much much better than my first baby. Good luck Smile

Great to hear that you managed without an epidural after the drip. I’ve been advised to get an epidural as soon as I get the drip (if I end up having one) as it makes contractions extremely painful. I’d like to avoid it if possible! Were you dialated at all before starting?

I was advised that too, refused and managed the whole thing on gas and air. There are other pain relief options too before you get to the epidural. With my first the pain was totally manageable, it intensified at transition and I thought I might need more but like the pp it passed. On that occasion the drip was managed really well. I know some people who found the contractions difficult because the midwife did not manage the delivery of the drip well (too much). At the beginning my midwife and I discussed the drip and my fears of it being delivered too quickly and she promised to do it slowly and to consult with me. It was absolutely fine

Oh and I wasn't dilated at all but dilated pretty quickly once it got going
