Asking for ELCS to be brought forward? Any experience?

Having third baby. ELCS is booked for 39 weeks.

I'm 37 weeks.
I'm not coping.
I have an exsisting spinal cord injury. I have really really awful SPD
I have been sleeping on the couch for the last 3 weeks. I'm struggling to mobilise to the downstairs loo which is about 1.5m from the couch.

I'm pretty much completely dependent on my partner. I'm in a truck load of pain. Baby is measuring big. 34wk growth scan was 5lbs 10.

I'm at the point where I'm just not coping now but my section isn't booked for another 2 weeks.

I feel like begging them to move it forward. I don't even know if you can do that, and if you can, how you would go about it. Can anybody offer any advice?

C section before 38 weeks would need steroids for baby's lungs.

I feel your pain - I've been on crutches since 28 weeks. I've been trying to limit my (prescribed) painkillers, but the last week, my spd has gotten 10x worse. I'm currently 39+2.

I'm just taking each day as it comes. Seeing consultant tomorrow and will ask about stretch and sweep. I can't believe I've lived through the past 11 weeks since every step (even the first step of the day) became painful, but somehow we make it through.

Is the c section because of your spinal cord injury?

Oh your poor thing, that sounds so hard.

I don’t think your consultant will bring it forward unless it was in baby’s interest though. As tough as you’re finding it now baby is better off inside for a while longer. And remember after your c-section you will still be really sore and reliant on your partner so it won’t be a cure-all. Plus you’ll have a newborn to factor in!

Talk to your consultant and see if there’s anything you can do/take to ease your pain for the next couple of weeks.

Yes c section is due to spinal cord injury.
My 1st was overdue
My 2nd was an elective section at 37 weeks due to my spinal cord injury a suggested by them as it was becoming too risky, but that was at a different hospital.
At this point now I'm just so desperate. And she's so big!

My dtds were born at 36weeks and 5 days and despite being 5lb 12oz dtd1 nearly didn't come home with us and had to be resuscitated then in scbu with lung problems and jaundice. Dtd2 was 4lb and had to be tube fed.

Be kind to yourself as much as you can by resting but speak to the professionals and listen to them. I know you want baby out but not at the risk of life. Honestly it was the most terrifying time of my life and I felt so guilty my body failed to keep dtd in until her lungs were ready.
