C section, babies sleeping arrangements

So! I had my elective c section on 27/2/19 at 9am and was home for late afternoon on 28/2/19. I'm having trouble with getting up to baby during the night as it hurts my wound if I try and sit up to fast to get her. She is in a next to me cot

Congratulations! You’re home quickly, I hope you’re keeping up with pain relief. I was in hospital for 3 nights so enjoyed the motorised bed to sit up. For the next couple of days until you’ve healed a bit more do you have a partner that can lift the baby to you for feeds? And take your time sitting up, definitely don’t push it.

I am about six weeks ahead of where you are and was in the same position. I slept in DC's room so just had to get up v gingerly. Don't push yourself, keep the wound open to the air when you can, but do go for a tiny walk outside each day and gradually build it up to be longer. Minimise what you need to get up for during the day - ensure you have filled water bottles to hand first thing and if you have a partner/ family who can take the baby off you to change them then do take advantage of that.

I've found if I kind of roll out of bed on my side it's a little easier. I hold my knees sometimes too. X

If you have a bed post at the end of the bed, try tying a dressing gown cord round it and using that to pull yourself up - takes the strain off the wound.

Honestly my husband picked the baby up and brought him to me for the first three/four days. Rolling on my side and then levering myself up helped but still hurt.

I came home after one night too. My DH had to help me a lot for the first couple of nights, even helping me to sit up, doing pretty much everything for DS except the actual feeding.

Really normal - take a regular dose of painkillers don't miss any! Air your scar as much a's you can - figure out the best way to get out of bed without hurting self. Set yourself up with everything around you so you don't have to go too far

Bloody hell, that was quick to be home! Take it easy with your recovery.

Also, the first time I drove (at about 6 weeks) I somehow managed to crash into a parked car in Sainburys car park. I think my co-ordination had gone out of the window and I was utterly baffled as to how I managed to do that.

Jo Malone vitamin E cream (more like a sort of gel) is wonderful for scar healing. Rather expensive so drop some hints.

Congratulations, by the way!
