Sorry I’m especially needy today Grin

I am about to go on the drip later on today as I am being induced because I’m 16 days overdue now.

Is it as bad as they say? I wanted to avoid an epidural but am open to the other drugs.

I’m scared it’s going to really hurt. Sad

Fearing the pain will make it more painful, unfortunately.

Is it your first baby? How are they inducing you? X

I would ask for an eipidural and ask for it early.

I wanted to avoid an epidural and was hoping for a hypno birth in the birthing pool. It wasn’t to be but I needed the drip to have a safe delivery. For many women it does hurt more (although some have a nice experience despite the drip) and they will speak to you about pain relief. You can ask for an epidural before they put the drip in or see how things progress. I managed 4/5 hours on gas and air before asking for the epidural and I couldn’t have coped any longer. I was on the drip for about 12 hours which is quite a long time. Some people only need a few hours.

I've had the drip wasn't too bad but it was my first so nothing to compare to. I had gas and air for the stitches but otherwise ok BUT childbirth is so different in each and every case. Good luck and just remember you'll soon have your lovely baby

Can they n ot use a pessary instead?

Thats what i had and then once cervix softened they broke my waters.

It was my worst fear too, I was worried it would lead to a c-section. The pain was intense and I begged my husband to make it stop.
But.... I then got on the gas and air and it was bliss! I ended up with the birth I wanted.
Good luck to you!

I’ve had two births with a drip and two without. Both drop were only gas and air, I cannot day I found a difference compared to the difference lack of movement or positioning makes. I think the pain think associated with it is more due to lack of mobility
