Induction stress!

So I came in for my induction this morning at 10am and it's now about 7 or 8 hrs since I had my prostaglandin pessary but still absolutely nothing!

Not even a tiny twinge, is that normal?

I just keep praying for the pains to start Grin

I had a pessary about 10am and started feeling dodgy about 10pm. Baby born early hours next morning. Had a very very quick labour but I'd felt NOTHING all day and was getting annoyed at people texting "any word?" "How's things?" Etc 😂😂

Jamhandprints · 21/02/2019 18:52

Yes that's totally normal I had this with my second, then it all started after 7 hours and he was born in 2 hours.
Don't just sit/lie there though. Walk around the grounds, up stairs, bounce and rotate on a birthing ball, cuddle.
My first took 2 days before anything happened but I wasn't so active and kept getting stressed which slows things down.
I hope something starts soon!
I've just had my third and had the pessary in overnight, then in the late morning started having pain and mild contractions and she was born at 9pm.

My induction started quickly, had the pessary at 2pm and had period like pains at 4pm but I was 39+6 when they induced me so I.was probably getting there myself so it didn't take much to get me going. Everyone is different, but yes, walk around, bounce on a ball, stand and rock from side to side. I hope things speed up for you ! Good luck X

Mine only got going after a long walk and lots of staircases. Good luck!

Sorry to tell you op, I had my first pessary around 10am on the Friday. Dd was born 4.09am on the Tuesday. I had the max dose of pessary and still didn’t work!

shecamefromgreece · 21/02/2019 19:18

Yes completely normal as others have said walk, bounce and sidestep up and down the stairs.
My second and third births were inductions. Second one was 24hrs of pessary and then waters broken then 9 hours of labour with drip.
Third one was more complicated but quicker once I got going.

Deffo normal. I had 6 days of pessary induction. Before going slightly bonkers and having a c section. Cervix of steel apparently. Didn’t dilate a millimetre.
Good luck! Bounce on a ball and clock up your 10,000 steps!

Bigonesmallone3 · 21/02/2019 19:22

I had the pessary.. 24 hours later a couple rounds of gel before they could pop my waters, 9 hrs later.. baby Smile

The methods of induction don't start labour for a lot of people they are a way to get your body to a point that your waters can be broken.

Best of luck..
(Get on that ball and lots of walking)

shecamefromgreece · 21/02/2019 19:30

Yes agree with bigonesmallone just because your not getting pains things could still be happening, you only need to get to 2/3cms for them to break your waters.

Samind · 21/02/2019 19:33

Agreed with pps. My waters only came away as I was pushing to get head out. It was only I kept feeling the need to push that they rushed me to delivery. Good luck though. It's a really exciting time 😀

Lauren83 · 21/02/2019 19:36

Agree with PPs, I had first pessary 10am Monday and kept having them at regular intervals, 4 later nothing had happened so ended up having no pessaries on Wednesday then a section on Thursday
