Older children childcare during labour

Just wondered what people did when they went into labour if they had no one they felt comfortable to ask to look after their child, especially through the night. My family don't live nearby and I feel very uncomfortable asking friends (especially as most have their own kids to deal with).

We really don't know what to do!! Any advice would be great.

I'm 24 weeks and my daughter will be just over 3 when the baby is born in early June.
I'm dealing with her completely rejecting me at the moment and is allllll about daddy which makes all this harder. Talking to her about what will happen is a good idea though.

I'm just one of those people who tries not to rely on anyone if I can help it. This situation is really anxiety inducing! I could see what the childminder says. I'm sure it will all work out in the end but I'm just playing out all the options.

I was in a similar situation and almost everyone I mentioned it to, even people I didn't know that well, offered to have my eldest. Have you mentioned it to your friends at all? They might not realise there is an issue unless you tell them.

In the end, one of my friends came over at midnight and stayed with DS until 3am when my Mum managed to get up here (long drive) and she was more than happy to, especially as it meant she was one of the first to hear about the birth!

My mil is taking my 2 children as I need my partner with me but had that not been a option I would have used a childminder
