VBAC with gestational diabetes

Some of the following may be silly questions so forgive me if that is the case!! I had one DD who will be two in April via section as she was breech and IUGR. Now pregnant with DS and due in May. I have gestational diabetes so this obviously may change the plans as the pregnancy goes on however the current plan is to have a VBAC if possible. My consultant has said that they don't use hormone drips or pessaries post section and so I presume they induce using a balloon catheter? If this is the case do you have to be slightly dilated before this can work?

Do you know you will need to be induced? I'm also planning VBAC, I've been told they want to might do sweeps and maybe break waters but go to repeat CS if you go massively over due date.

I think some trusts do use pessaries, hormones etc a little bit in VBAC, it varies.

No but it's looking as though they will want baby out by 38 weeks due to gestational diabetes. So chances of induction may be high enough. My trust don't use anything other than balloon catheters to induce previous sections.

How is your GD controlled?

My health board are happy for baby to stay put until due date. Not sure if there may be wiggle room for you. I went into labour on the morning of my induction after a 2nd sweep the previous day.
