Day time or night time labour more likely?

Just wondering as my first labour started in the night and I've heard a lot of labour starts in the evening? Was this true for you?

Mine have both been during the day.
DC1 was an induction though so doesn’t really count because my labour was started artificially at 9am. She was here by 12 noon though Shock
DC2 I noticed mild contractions around 4am and he was born at 14:45.

Decksdark · 12/02/2019 17:54

Yes both times

Seline · 12/02/2019 17:55

Never been in labour but my waters broke in the night.

homegrownmumma · 12/02/2019 17:56

Started at 2 am , I think I've read before that labour is more likely to start at night as that's when you are most relaxed ?

Blastandtroph · 12/02/2019 17:59

More spontaneous births at night. I usually recommend students work night shifts as they'll definitely catch more babies!

Opheliablox · 12/02/2019 18:01

Started in the afternoon and went through till early hours

Mumshappy · 12/02/2019 18:03

All started and finished in the morning.

RuthW · 12/02/2019 18:08

Waters broke 7pm. She was born 6pm the next day.

OccasionallyIncomplet · 12/02/2019 18:16

Both started late evening and born with 2 hours.

Unlucky friend was in active labour for 6(!) days!!!!!!!!!

StuntCroissant · 12/02/2019 18:18

Both mine started early evening and babies had arrived by the early hours. A MW of 30 years told me labour is more likely to start at night.

HoustonBess · 12/02/2019 20:44

We're still basically animals physiologically. Our bodies know we will be vulnerable during labour so they kick things off when we're somewhere safe, dark and quiet, away from potential threats.

For much of evolution it wouldn't have been much good to start labouring in the middle of the day in a prairie or whatever!

cheesenpickles · 12/02/2019 20:46

I went into full blown labour at 8pm and 1am.

Jean1234 · 12/02/2019 20:47

I always imagined I would go into labour in the middle of the night!

But I went into labour shortly after I woke up around 7am.

Didn't give birth until 2am the following day.

My sister has 3 children and she went into labour during the daytime too.

Lizbiz89 · 12/02/2019 21:52

Thanks for the responses! Sounds like labour mostly starts in the night although it can vary. Will be interesting to see when my second labour starts.

I went into labour during the night all three times.

SweetheartNeckline · 12/02/2019 21:55

I've gone into labour on a Friday night 3 times.

annlee3817 · 12/02/2019 22:18

All kicked off around 2am, DD arrived before breakfast :)

littlemisscynical · 12/02/2019 22:19

Mine started at 10am. Baby born 11pm

Bemoremargo · 12/02/2019 22:25

My last 2 labours kicked off around 7.30 am on days when my older children were due to go their childminder, and both arrived by 8.30am. I agree that its more likely to get going when you feel relaxed.

ImogenTubbs · 12/02/2019 22:26

My first contraction was at 12noon. Baby born at 11:20pm (waters broke about 11:15pm Grin).

m4rdybum · 14/02/2019 10:05

I only noticed my contractions starting at 9am on the Saturday morning. Had my LG at 3am on the Monday morning.

SoyDora · 14/02/2019 10:12

No 1 started at 4 o clock in he afternoon, born at 4 o clock in the afternoon (2 days later).
No 2 started at 1pm, born 8am the following morning.
No 3 started at 7pm, born at midnight that night.

SequinsDress · 16/02/2019 17:34

First labour - waters broke at around 11am and I was induced the following day at 1pm, with baby born at 17:30.

Second labour waters broke at 00:30 and baby born around 6am.
