Hi ladies,

It's only early days (had baby 29/01) but wondered if this overhang I have now will improve / go.

Anyone any experience? (Or advice for when I've fully recovered) thanks xx

I think it varies. I've had 2, both emergencies and don't have an overhang in the sense that I've seen other women describe. I just need to lose a bit more weight but the fat doesn't shelf out over the scar.

Pilates really helped after dc1 as did loads of walking. I was also told to massage the scar tissue by one of the NICU doctors to help prevent a shelf. No idea if it worked or I just got lucky but I got dh to do it once it was healed up and don't have any numbness around the scar nor a shelf.

Thank you. It's only early days so I'm not too worried and honestly, it is what it is.

I do have weight to lose and will start trying once I'm all recovered etc (although I've already nearly lost 1.5 stone) x

Mine has, completely, although i think it varies and it did take time - Pilates was great and just being a healthy weight, was tender for about 2 years (!) which is according to gp is quite normal! I’m 4 yrs on now and there is no overhang whatsoever and I can barely see the scar at all.

Thanks, that's good to hear. I've lost about a stone and a half now but still have this! It's only been 3 weeks though so I'll give it time. Once I can start exercising again I'm sure it'll feel better x
