Pain relief at birthing centre

I'm due to give birth to my second baby in 8 weeks and I am hoping for birthing centre birth rather than labour ward. At my hospital the birthing unit is attached to hospital. I was just wondering for ladies who have given birth at birthing centres, what is the pain relief offered? I know there's gas and air but can they offer anything else? Obviously know that epidural won't be offered.

Gas and air, plus morphine injections😊 alongside more natural methods such as massage using aromatherapy oils.

I gave birth at midwife-led unit recently, although it was a community birth centre, so not attached to a hospital...

Traditional pain relief was gas and air or Meptid. Then there's the birthing pool and TENS machine (although you need to hire this in advance as you really need to start using ASAP when labour starts).

It may be worth Googling the birth centre? My NHS trust has a helpful website (for all potential places to give birth under the trust) that describes the facilities of each location and explains what will be available to you if you labour and give birth there.

I was offered gas and air or pethindin. x

Thanks for the replies. Also how would I go about saying I want to give birth at a birth centre. I've been consultant led so do I just tell them at my next appointment at 34 weeks? I haven't yet seen a midwife apart from my booking appointment but I'm due to see my midwife next at 36 weeks. Btw I'm consultant led because I take thyroxine not because my pregnancy is high risk.

I would mention it to them at your next appointment, I did a birth plan with my midwife and we discussed it then.x

Thanks @Wingingeverything! Will mention it at my 34 week appointment. Determined not to have a repeat of my first birth. X
