Experiences?
I feel like this Trust has not informed me of anything, so would love to know more about people's experiences and stays?

Specifically those with gbs+ and those who didn't get antibiotics in time. How long were you there? Has was baby monitored? Are there separate rooms for families? (Worcester trust had three post natal rooms where mum and baby stayed and dad/siblings could also stay if I remember rightly)

Thanks in advance for sharing!

I gave birth at Telford’s consultant-led unit 13 weeks ago.
I had quite a traumatic birth and felt that the latter part was only bearable because of the fantastic team upstairs in the delivery suite. I even went through a few shift changes due to the length of my labour!
However, the first part of my extremely painful back-to-back labour was spent on the antenatal ward (4-bed bay). They were very understaffed (one midwife supported by WSA’s) to tend to multiple bays of women being induced or monitored for complications. I wasn’t being induced but was having complications. Unfortunately, I couldnt get a bed on the delivery suite because of staff shortages so spent a long, undignified first 28 hours on the antenatal ward. My partner was allowed to stay with me at all times, even at night. But at my recent birth trauma “talk about it” debrief, I was informed this shouldn’t have been allowed. Partners are supposed to leave at night unless you’re in a birthing suite. Once upstairs in the delivery suite, I was much calmer and the staff were amazing. Ladies who needed antibiotics for GBS had priority in getting upstairs (from the antenatal ward/triage) so that pushed me back quite a bit. Totally understandable!
I ended up having an emergency c-section and the team were brilliant.
My experience of the antenatal ward was also extremely positive. The midwives and WSA’s were angels. They are attentive, patient and kind. Even when they had a huge influx of patients, they coped and did an amazing job of making me feel comfortable. I felt traumatised and had a long and painful recovery, but those ladies treated me and my whole family with such kindness. No family rooms were offered to us. But we didn’t ask. I was actually grateful to have other women around me when recovering because when your partner goes home for an inevitable break, you might appreciate the company and advice from other women going through the same thing as you. It all depends how well your labour goes. I hope this helps.
