Do you think pre-labour gets worse with subsequent babies?

thought it was all kicking off last Weds. only for everything to subside after 12 hours. Since then I have felt like a woman on the brink of giving birth - esp. eves and early mornings with lots of period like cramps and backache and v.v. strong BHs. I'm due on Thurs. so it won't be too far off - although the others were all a week late. Really hoping it'll be this wk. because this is exhausting! Also suddenly majorly morning sick again. Sorry - feeling sorry for myself.

oh lots of sympathy to you but it doesn't sound like you are too far off.
i had bad period pain for about a week before going into labour with DD2 (which i never had with DD1), think of it as your uterus doing the pre-work which will make labour shorter and quicker! i contracted much faster with DD2, went in at 1am - was 4cm and had her before 4am.

i also got really nauseous in the last week and was quite sick a few times too. Try to rest and eat light food to keep your strength up for labour. i know that's easier said than done.

Good luck! hang in there, soon you will have your new baby to snuggle.

I actually found it far less worse, and far shorter with subsequent labours. Third time I didn't even realise I was in labour. Maybe it is going to be sooner than you think! Good luck.

cupcakesgalore- I have been getting lots of period type cramps of an evening to , my lower back is going on and off all the time too. This has been going on for me for a week too.. But I still have another 2 to go. This is my third but will only my second labour as DD (number 1) was a c-section at 36weeks as they had to get her out, so no labour there.

I am hoping that things are going to happen before due date.. but probably not..lol.
I just want little one here now as you said in the nantenatal thread, the other children are excited for him to come, and I have everything prepared.. (sort off until a leak appeared in my house.. workmen in now!!) Have spent all weekend gutting the house out.. (again) Just making jobs for myself to keep myself busy so I dont sit and think about lo making an appearance and wishing every twinge was the start..

Only a few more weeks and we will defo be holding our los.

Good luck hun.xx

Hi Cupcakesgalore
I am now 9 days late with baby no. 2 and feel as if something has been happening since Thursday when the midwife said I was 1cm dilated. I am super-attentive to all my twinges, period-like cramps etc but then nothing happens. It is mentally tiring!
I'm not as sick as you sound but my heartburn means I can't bend down the normal way!
Hope things happen for you soon (and me!).

Hi cupcakesgalore. I had my third 10 weeks ago and my pre-labour was so much more intense and prolonged than with my previous two. Basically thought I was in labour for 3 weeks before my due date and then the baby was 10 days late! When she did arrive it was 4 hours from first sign to finish - so the quickiest of the three. There were other third time Mothers on our thread and we all were saying the same thing - that labour always seemed to be starting for it to go again. So I think it is pretty common. Having said that while I know the waiting at the end seems to go on forever suddenly the baby is there and time just keeps on rushing by! Good luckand enjoy

No, got shorter with each one - ~24h fwith no1, ~12h with no2 (then a break of about 4h when it all stopped), and didn't have a pre-labour at all before no3. Though the false labour contractions (before the pre-labour) got more intense with each one.

Thanks everyone! Feeling less sorry for myself today as Mum and dad (aka The Cavalry) have arrived and are doing the 3 school runs, the shopping and the cooking and ...everything really!

Hello Cupcakes
I answered your thread a few days ago and agreed with you about how long pre-labour was.Well, I've had my baby (a lovely 8lb 4oz wee boy) and labour was FAST! Be prepared! Waters broke at 7.30 and contractions happened straight after. At 9.15 I phoned the hospital and they said to call back in half an hour but I didn't manage that and called back after 10 minutes (thank goodness!) to say I was coming in. The journey there was hairy with me pushing in the taxi. 9.59 dramatic arrival in hospital reception, 10.01 baby born! Talk about shock!
So, all these pains are your body getting ready and they're useful for something. Good luck!

congrats mamamaggie

Mamamaggie - fantastic news and congratulations! Hoping I'll be following on soon - although given my 30 min to up to one hour journey to hospital, maybe not so rapid! Hope you are recovering and enjoying your baby!
