Waters have gone - now it's a waiting game...

My waters went with a gush in the early hours of this morning. We went up to the hospital, they monitored me and baby and have sent us home to wait.

So far nothing much has happened - hardly any more waters have leaked and all I can say is that I am mildly uncomfortable with sporadic strong Braxton Hicks contractions....

I have to go in tomorrow morning to be induced if nothing else happens by then - I really don't want to be induced, any ideas how to get labour going naturally (no sex coz of infection, tried ball etc).

All so exciting

Yes, ignore us silly women telling you to march about - Mears is absolutey right (in fact I should have known because it is the exact same advice she gave me last week and she was right!) - rest as much as possible as you could be rudely awoken in the middle of the night (as I was!).

Ooooh, good luck - can't wait to see your announcement!!!

Oooh, what's going on?!?

Wish she would post soon!!

My wtaers have just broken and i am due to be induced at 7pm tonight and the hospital wants me to go in now to check a few things so can i suggest i don't be induced now or will they suggest it anyway?? I am SO happy as the thought of being induced petrified me and stupidly i thought (1st baby) that waters breaking equalled labour starting but listening to you ladies makes me realise how very wrong i am - i REALLY don't want the drip but at the same time am fed up to my back teeth of pregnnacy as i am 41 + 4, no pain yet though...

You don't have to agree to being induced today; if your waters have gone I'd have thought it's worth waiting ? Mears said in an earlier post you can wait 72 hours to see if you go into spontaneous labour (she's a midwife). Unless there's meconium in your waters, can be a sign baby needs to come out, but not every type of meconium indicates this anway - do a search on 'Mears' as poster and 'meconium' as key word and I think you'll find some advice from her.
Good luck!
