Have my waters broken?

I’m 37+ 3 and I needed a wee.
At this stage if I wait too long I feel like I’ll pee myself haha and I let it get to This stage.

Anyway before I got to the loo, my bump was hard and I felt a strange pop down below, and went to the loo.

Then I suddenly thought, was that waters?

No pain or anything, first baby.

Could it have just been baby?

It was definitely a ‘pop’

When my waters broke they kept coming out for quite a long time, I don’t think it’s often all out in one gush, pop a sanitary pad in and see if it’s wet in 30 min or so.
I also felt a ‘pop’ and had a pain like a period pain at the same time.

SnuggyBuggy · 01/01/2019 20:23

Ditto, it keeps coming and doesn't smell like urine

WhiteWashGails · 01/01/2019 20:23

Ah okay, thank you. No pain with the pop. T was 10 mins ago.

I guess I am not sure if it’s worth making a call to maternity unit or if it’s a normal side effect of pressure of late pregnancy

I had a pain and a pop too, the difference is that you can stop wee, you can't stop waters!

As pp said, pop a pad on and see what happens in the next hour or so. Good luck!

WhiteWashGails · 01/01/2019 20:27

I didn’t try to stop the wee, it didn’t occur to me it could be waters until I sat back down

Also, my usual vaginal odour has been more smelly through pregnancy, I got DH to have a sniff and he looked at me funny and said ‘OMG different’

I can’t tell.

My waters only broke before labour with my 4th and I didn’t realise for 24 hours, I could actually stop and start them and it was exactly like needing/doing a wee. Won’t do any harm to call if your concerned

Sillybilly1234 · 01/01/2019 20:28

Phone the hospital or midwife for advice.

WhiteWashGails · 01/01/2019 20:28

But yes, thanks I’ve put a pad in now.

Maternity not sanitary pad

Mine didn't properly 'go' so didn't feel a pop etc however did notice I was leaking! Agree it doesn't smell like wee.

I ended up going to hospital to get checked out and they put a special pad on to detect if it was my waters and it was, I was induced the next day.

Keep an eye and any concerns that it is, I'd call in xxx

tablelegs · 01/01/2019 20:51

I thought I had peed myself when my water went. They went in 1 go.

WhiteWashGails · 01/01/2019 20:53

Interesting how different it is for people !!

CupoBlood · 01/01/2019 21:14

With the pop I would say yes, lots don't have a gush.

WhiteWashGails · 01/01/2019 21:34

I spoke to midwife, said it could be hind waters and to let her know in 2 hours what’s on the pad

OP posts:
WhiteWashGails · 01/01/2019 22:48

Up to now, pad is dry and midwife says probably not waters and to monitor and I can always callback etc

OP posts:
CupoBlood · 03/01/2019 18:34

How's it going?

WhiteWashGails · 03/01/2019 21:37

Thanks for asking.
Well a few niggly pains down there, but nothing I can’t explain away by the fact I’ve done some walking and I feel a bit strained.

Time will tell!
I’m so bored tho
