Post birth internal geography

Sorry for the title - I wasn't sure what to call this! I had a long post-birth recovery, following a forceps delivery. The episiotomy split further than it should have, then subsequently became infected. They think I developed an absess underneath it, which rumbled on for about 12 weeks (without diagnosis, despite I don't know how many trips to the GP saying I didn't think the pain should be going on so long). I had some gynaecological exploration which showed that I have healed badly, leaving a substantial area of scar tissue, and possibly increasing the risk of future prolapse (lovely!). Unfortunately, I can no longer use tampons, and have invested in a mooncup to see if that is better. However, I found on the first attempt that it too was slipping, and I was having to constantly re-adjust it. I am concerned that I have lost any elasticity in the area and am forever doomed. I do my PFEs, but has anyone else experienced this and does it get better? Will I ever get close to my pre-birth anatomy, or is it gone for good?

get your GP to refer you to a physio in the gynae department - they can check that you are doing the PFEs properly, and can give you other help - there has been another thread on this quite recently - there are things you can do to help it get better.

definitely get a referral, i remember being given a phone number for the obs/gynae physio at our hospital who's there just for this sort of thing - in conjunction with a consultant of course in case something more structural needs doing (sorry..)

I had a tear that over-healed and I had a lot of pain - sometimes the granulated scar tissue would swell and bleed (sorry). I went to my gp and got referred and had laser surgery. Now a gazillion times better. Go to the GP for sure!

Also I saw a physio for PFE issues - specific exercises sorted it out in a couple of months.
