Pain after second degree tear

DS2 is 9 weeks old. He came out with his hand on his head and did a number on me on the way out. Luckily it was only second degree and in some places they classed it as a first degree graze however it was quite jagged and difficult to stitch. I had normal pain during healing - a little more than the episiotomy healing pain I had with DS1 but I put that down to being up and about sooner than first time round.
This week I have come on my first period since the birth and there’s some pain/uncomfortableness in a particular area when sitting or standing in certain positions. It almost feels like a tightness and stretching which I presume is the scar and surrounding tissue. Is it normal to still have this feeling 9 weeks after? I feel like it probably is but just wanted to check that others also took a while to heal.

Sorry to hear you're feeling rubbish. My daughter came out sucking her hand and subsequently I had quite a nasty tear too - so I feel for you.

It's been 9 years since my last pregnancy so I can't remember how long things took to heal. I know that I had soreness in all kinds of places and the first weeks were awful.

I would say to give yourself some time. If you're worried and it's bothering you, ask your GP or health care lady. I'm sure they will be more than happy to talk and check you over if need be.

Hope you feel better soon :)

I don't have any advice but just to say I have a similar experience I had second degree tears as my baby was so large and I pushed him out in 15 minutes. Nearly 7 weeks down the line the pelvic pain is still very much there Sad I was told will take time to heal but am being sent for a ultrasound to check everything ok inside and have been put on antibiotics

I gave birth about 6 weeks ago. A women's physio I saw regarding pelvic pain said to me, it took nine month for your body to prepare for birth, it'll take about that time to get back to normal again as well. Especially if you're breastfeeding (something to do with the hormones). I'd give yourself some more time, and as everyone keeps saying, keep doing the pelvic floor exercises.

Forgot to say, I had a second degree tear as well and still get odd pain sensations down there unrelated to the pelvic pain when I stand or walk for a little while (like the vagina walls are cramping? Or maybe bruised? Hard to describe...) but resting and doing the pelvic floor exercises seems to help a bit so far.
