Hi,

I'm being induced at 37+2 due to type 2 diabetes.

I would like to know people's experience of being induced at 37 weeks please.

It took a while to get going, but was fine. The pessary gave me mild to moderate contractions but I didn't dilate, so after 24 hours with the pessary I had my waters broken and had the drip. Baby was out ten hours later. I had an epidural for the last few hours, but tbh if I'd known how fast I'd dilate once things kicked off I would have skipped it. Calm, straightforward birth and recovery.

Exactly what I hoped to hear! Thank you

Mine was at 38 weeks. It was long I’m afraid but the important thing is that the baby was born healthy and had great Apgar scores. If I hadn’t been induced that wouldn’t have necessarily been the case so Induction was the best thing for us clinically even if it wasn’t the experience I wanted.

Just be aware that if you need the drip, the doctors will advise an epidural and you will have constant monitoring and 1:1 midwife care. My Nct classes hadn’t really prepared me for induction so I hadn’t quite grasped that my husband and I would never be alone once the drip went in. If you watch things like one born every minute you always seem to see couples labouring on their own.

I was induced at 37+2 too. 24 hours after induction nothing had really happened. So they broke my waters and that kicked things off. I had an epidural for medical reasons. Dd was born 11 hours later. Labour absolutely fine and normal. Dd was born with a very hairy body, and slot a lot for the first two weeks. which I should have appreciated as she never slept again but she was happy and healthy, as was I.
I am sure you will be fine. Good luck!

Good luck peaches. There's definitely something to be said for going into hospital on a prearranged date knowing you are going to be leaving with a baby! I'm sure the birth will go smoothly.

I had a failed induction and then an emergency csetion.
My second was a planned csection.
It was great to have everything planned out and induction can be a long process.
I hope your section goes well. Flowers
