PPH

Hi there, looking for some answers really, however I know how unpredictable childbirth can be!

First baby, fab pregnancy then at 39 weeks told I'm measuring too big and I'm induced. Five days later, exhausted, drip, forceps and then an emcs. I had a pph and was on clexane injections for six weeks after.

My question is, if you hemorrhaged during your labor did it happen again next time?
I was offered a birth de brief but declined it as my baby was healthy and I didn't want to take something else from an already stretched NHS.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I had a APH and PPH with my first, no known reason. I was induced and had no other interventions. I had my second, third and fourth with no PPH. With my 5th I started bleeding really heavy in labour again ended up having to have a emergency section due to that and lost a significant amount during...that turned out to be a placental abruption. So 2 different kind of haemorrhages but obviously 3 in between was fine. You are at a slightly increased risk of another following a PPH but they always took precautions with me in labour following my first so was well looked after.

Hi you had a lot of factors going on in your pregnancy/ labour that can end up with a PPH.....big baby being induced long labour failed instrumental then emlscs. Yes you are more at risk next time of another PPH but you would automatically go under consultant care having had a lscs. They would monitor you very carefully with next pregnancy monitor baby's growth and when in labour you would have what we call a trial of labour due to having scar on uterus they will want to monitor heartbeat throughout and will take bloods in case you need another lscs. Plenty of woman have successful VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean) so stay positive you will be well looked after I hope.

I had a major PPH with first child. Big baby, very extended labour, Emcs.

Second baby was elcs, also big baby, blood loss was within normal limits.

Was given syntocin drip post delivery with DD2 as a precaution.

Sorry I'm not sure if you're wanting a vaginal birth, my experience might not be relevant.

I had a pph with my first and was under consultant led care with my 2nd which meant I couldn't go into the midwife led unit. With my 2nd I had no pph and the midwife said I'd be able to have a home birth next time!

Very big PPH with second. I think because of over long pushing stage. It was awful and I worried a lot about it happening again. However they managed my next births well I ended up with a cut and vontouse because of his low heart rate and it was all over in about 15 minutes.
