I don’t seem to have any luck with birth even my planned csection ended with complications. They cut open my old scar but due to the position of my daughter and lack of fluid I managed to get an additional tear going towards my bladder. Luckily I only list 600ml blood and they just stitched it back up. The consultant told me wait at least 2 years until next delivery which I’d imagine must be a csection. Has anyone else had this? How was recovery and did you manage to conceive again? I feel fine ( csection was this morning) though I’m trying not todo much. I’m just glad I never tried a vbac this time.

I tore downward on one side with my first. It was an emcs at full dilation (I'd been labour for days, pushed for a couple of hours and they had tried forceps first) so I think my uterus had enough.

They didn't seem too worried. Recovery was far easier than I had expected as well. No need for pain relief, walking to NICU within 24 hours.

There are 3 years between dc1 and dc2 but that was more because I couldn't face being pregnant again. When we tried for a second it took a bit longer than my first did but I was 40 (3/4 cycles of actual trying I think).

Congratulations.

I did. My c-section was very urgent and very fast so surgeon cut a big hole and hauled ds out, tearing my womb on one side in the process. I ended up with a J shaped scar on my womb but the scar on the outside is normal shaped, although it's quite long.

Recovery was about the same as my elcs. I didn't have another baby after that but we didn't try to so I don't know if we would have had problems. The surgeon came and talked to me cheerfully about "next time" and recommending an elcs for future births. After that I knew I didn't want any more though.

My birth was exactly the same as dinosauratemydaffodils
Recover was fine and the surgeon also told me she didn't want to see me for at least 2 years and not to try for a vbac.
@Dinosauratemydaffodils did you have an elcs with your second? Was you given the option of a vbac or was it definitely off the cards?

babysharkdoodoodoodoodoodoo After dc1 was born, they told me I should have an elective with any subsequent babies.

However when I went for my first consultant appointment with dc2, I was told I'd be supported with whatever I chose. Because of my age, the fact that dc1 was only six pounds nine ounces and the fact that they thought he was in an optimal position but still couldn't be dragged out of me, I chose an elective but not under any pressure. I did get the "all births are different" speech but that's about it.

I had a scan at 37 weeks and prior to that, almost changed my mind but baby was back to back and with a head measuring 42 weeks.

The elective was booked for 39+1...went into labour at 39 weeks exactly and again when I rocked up at the hospital with a 3 year old in tow in the middle of the night, was told it was entirely my choice.

I went for the section because I didn't feel "right". Dd came out wrapped up in the cord like a Mummy (3 times around her neck and twice around her chest I think...it was really long) with giant shoulders and a giant head so I think it was the right choice for us but the hospital made it very clear they were happy with whatever I wanted.

I was told that they would recommend an elective for a 3rd baby but if I suddenly found a desire for a vaginal birth between now and then I'd be supported or if I went into labour early again (dc1 was 38+4, dc2 39 weeks exactly so apparently likely), I'd be offered the choice again regardless of my previous plans.

Oh wow you definitely made the right choice for an elcs by the sounds of it, thanks for all the detail that's nice to know I'll have a supported choice when the time comes for a second dc as I'd presumed I'd be encouraged to have another c section
