Emergency csection at 34 weeks

Looking for a bit of advice/reassurance!
I had my son today at 4.22pm, 5lb15oz by emergency csection at 34 weeks. He's doing well, he is in an incubator with minimal assistance with his breathing. Fingers crossed it stays this way and he won't need a ventilator.

Really just looking for some other 34 weekers so I can put my mind at rest and try and sleep!!

Congratulations!!!
I know you are so excited, scared, over the moon,in love and terrified. All at the same time! But he is a great weight and he sounds strong!
I had the same, emergency C-section but 35 weeks and he only weighed 4lbs 15oz.
So your little guy is going to be great.
Rest as much as possible,if you are in pain ask for meds(you just had major abdominal surgery) and take tons of pictures.
Congrats 💙

Congratulations!!

I had a 3lb12oz 33 weeker by emcs just over two years ago. C-PAP initially for breathing, and tube feeding while in SCBU. He was in for about three weeks as he wasn't regulating his temperature very well. Other than that he was fine. I stayed for the maximum 5 days before being kicked out, purely because DS was in special care. We also managed to establish breastfeeding (if that's what you want to do) and the little bugger has only just given it up!!

His two year review was fine, no concerns, and he is a delightful little boy...when he wants to be... I wish you the best of luck and lots of happiness for the years ahead.

Congratulations! I had mine at 32 weeks, all fine now. I was told that they were aiming to get me to 34 weeks as that is the point when it’s fairly straightforward and mainly s case of baby gaining weight.

Aaahhh congratulations!
When I had my second my elective, they were discussing the person waiting to come to theatre after me, she was 30 weeks, I said goodness can't you sort me out elsewhere so she can be cared for in here, I'm all right .... oh 30 weeks is fine they said, no problem - 28 weeks and we get a bit concerned, 30 is fine .... you're a whole month longer Wink

Enjoy your baby and hope all's ok after delivering early

Ahh sorry for not updating - I posted this in a delirious state and completely forgot!!

DS is doing great - he had a few days all hooked up on his monitors, a few days of antibiotics whilst they wanted for his blood cultures to come back (which is came back clear) and a few days under photo therapy for jaundice. He was actually moved to a cot today from his incubator and all he has now is his feeding tube so we're just trying to establish feeding now! Although he has had to be popped back under the photo therapy for another session as he went a bit yellow again - but apart from that he is doing absolutely grand!!

Thanks for all your messages! Glad all your preterm babies are doing well too!
