Early labour experiences?

Looking for some sympathetic like minded ladies who would be happy to share their early labor experiences with me?!

Currently 39+5 and am being extremely silly and getting impatient to meet my little one after being told by my midwife two weeks ago she didn't think it would be long! Should've know 😂

Had a jelly like (urgh) discharge two days in a row as of Thursday and then after an awful sleepless night with what feels like period pains I had some old bloody-brownish discharge throughout today. Midwife seems to think I'm in early labor, but feel like it's going to go on, stop-starting, for an eternity as no real contractions yet, just Braxton Hicks 😂

Anyone experience similar?!

I'm being a total div and thinking I won't have a clue when I'm in real labor - which let's face it is wishful thinking 😂🙏

Xx

Haha i wasn't sure tbf! I'd had what i took to be my baby stretching Hmm for several weeks. One morning a had leak of clear fluid (not wee) and got checked out at maternity. Was told i wasn't in labour but go home and rest. "Stretches" were becoming more regular and stronger and weren't stopping like they usually did. Penny dropped that these were contractions and the "stretches" must have been Braxton Hicks!

Managed with paracetamol, bath and netflix until 1am then went in and they said i was 5cm. Baby was eventually born early evening. So a long one, but uncomplicated.

Good luck!!

My daughter was 5 weeks early. I had some brownish/redish discharge and then a few hours later had terrible back pain and pelvic aching just like period pain. That was at 6 pm and she was born a few hours later!

MumOfDiamonds · 08/10/2018 21:56

With my DD I had a "show" of bloody discharge on the Saturday morning (8ish)....she was born 4:20am Monday morning after a 4 hour labour (from waters to birth).

I was like you describe for the best part of a week before it started "properly". Get some sleep and eat - you'll be knackered by the time it gets going.

You'll also know it's "proper" as you'll wish it still felt like it does now. Grin

Ahah @Fwend 😂 this is extremely true... can honestly say not in any pain yet, just uncomfy, so i guess I should make the most of it a recharge my batteries as much as possible!

It's such a shame that there isn't a set formula for labour, makes it so much more difficult 😂 xx

At risk of being that annoying person...any news OP?

Hope you're doing ok!

When I told a friend that at 42 weeks I found it frustrating that my early labour was very stop start. she told me to jump up and down 15 times . I did, and could feel my cervix change(definitely gives a twinge) . From then on my labour just progressed.
I was late 30 s and not very fit, and it did me no harm, I met my gorgeous daughter about 12 hours later.

TheSarahChronicles · 10/10/2018 09:20

@Fwend Alas, all pains of any kind tapered off, have now tried all the old wives tales and he's still very comfortable in my belly 😂 Trying to be patient, but it's so hard! Going to go and jump up and down for a bit @Ohyesiam 😂🙏 thank you for the tip. Will keep updating! 😂🙈xxx

No experiences of an early labour, but wanted to add that what you've had is what I've had for the last 3 weeks. Am now 40+4. Other babies were born at 40+10 and 40+15. Trying not to think about it. So of course am thinking about it lots!

Conseulabananahammock · 10/10/2018 10:03

I had on and off contractions for 2 months with mt daughter. Not even Braxton hicks. Same time every night between 10pm and 4am I would get them. When I actually started Labour at around 10pm on her due date I palmed it off and took some painkillers thinking here we go again. Woke up at half 3 in the morning and almost gave birth on the rug was ready to push.just got to hospital and she was born 20 minutes later

Ohyesiam · 10/10/2018 10:36

Well in some ways it’s easier when they are out, but they never cry in the womb!

Thank you for the insights all ❤️ I'm currently being checked over in hospital with a little bit of protein in my wee, but other than that all symptoms have dropped off! 40 weeks on the dot today 🤞🙈 xxx

It'll happen. And then you'll wish you were still pregnant!

Top tip: take a great picture of yourself now, all blooming and lovely. You won't be able to believe in a fortnight's time that your new wrinkly beautiful baby was in there. Smile

TheSarahChronicles · 10/10/2018 20:27

Awww @Fwend that is just too cute 😘 I'll do that xx
