Sleep or mobilise?

I’m 41+1 and have had mild cramping on and off for days. This eve cramps have felt a bit stronger and making me hopeful that this is it. However each time I’ve been crampy so far, it’s tailed off overnight. Would you think I should be on the ball trying to make it stronger, or get rest while I can? I am pretty tired but don’t want to miss a chance to get labour established if I can. It wasn’t ambiguous like this with my first, I just started gradually with cramps that built up that night to full labour.

Rest!
If it’s real labour you will wake up with pains later. If not then you’ll tire yourself out trying to get them going. Rest and relax.

Sleep!

PragmaticWench · 21/09/2018 22:52

Hmm, I found laying down on my back made the mind cramps almost stop. I couldn't sleep though. I wish I'd just leaned forward over a ball and got on with it.

PragmaticWench · 21/09/2018 22:52

Mild, not mind!

tumtitum · 21/09/2018 22:55

Rest! I had exactly this. Woke up at 2am on the day DD2 was born with contractions. No amount of walking in the preceding days had helped!!

Rest!! You'll know it's real labour even before it becomes "established" so that's when to mobilise and use a birthing ball if you have one (Rotate to dilate! 😂) Save your energy while you can :)

katmarie · 21/09/2018 23:15

Sleep, definitely, save your energy.

Merename · 22/09/2018 05:00

Thanks all. So I slept but now awake after pee and crampy feeling still around but weaker and less rhythmic than last night. Boooo. I really don’t want to be induced, and today would be most convenient childcare wise Smile.

Did you have your baby? Natural or induced?

Merename · 01/10/2018 04:38

Eventually had her on 26th at 40+13, naturally at home with no pain relief, 10lb 5 oz! Still in shock about that! Labour went so quickly in the end after that super slow build up. I was indeed glad I had my rest, agree with you all...

Are you ina similar position @Rosesarered?

Wow! Did you plan a homebirth? Congratulations!

Rosesared · 01/10/2018 05:02

My baby is 4 months now, but our labour went exactly the same. Mild cramping for two or three days then bam! She was born at 40+11, also at home, natural, without pain relief although only 6lbs...tf :) three days before "pressured induction".

Rosesared · 01/10/2018 05:02

And congratulations! Flowers

Merename · 01/10/2018 06:39

Yes planned a home birth but had given up hope of it as we were due to go in for induction that evening. Was so amazing to get such good care and get tucked up in my own bed with my (not so) wee one afterwards. Congratulations to you too!
