Came in on Monday at 3am with complications of OC and reduced movements. Had an emergency scan that showed baby is big and has increased fluid. Sonographer did not pick up baby moving on the scan but said heartbeat was fine.

Monday night the doctor said I would be induced Tuesday morning (when I turned 37 weeks). Had propess in Tuesday morning and had it in 24 hours. It did not work, told by midwife that doctor wanted to try a foley balloon.
11pm Wednesday balloon was fitted and removed 12pm Thursday afternoon. Was told it had not really worked.

I was then left all of Thursday and saw no doctor. This Friday morning (10am) saw the Consultant on their rounds. Begged them for a CSection, told them I am exhausted barely getting 2 hours of sleep each night.

Consultant told me they would not give me a CSection. Allowed Consultant to examine me and they said they could break my waters. Asked me to let them try, I agreed.

I am now still waiting for someone to come and break my waters. Women have been coming in for induction, taking to the propess and are being taken up to the Labour ward. I feel like because i am not progressing they are just leaving me here?

Tonight will be 6 days I have been here, 5 days after they told me my baby needs to come out for it’s health.

Can someone please advise me what they would do in my situation please? I am a first timer and just so exhausted and mentally drained.

I'm glad things are (somewhat) getting sorted. I agree with PPs: if you're set on a section then I'd very seriously consider having steroids. Your baby will be 100% fine without them if you have a vaginal birth - coming through the birth canal squeezes some of the fluid out of the lungs and reduces the risk of RDS.

Two things though:

  1. Steroids are a course of 2 injections given (ideally) 24 hours apart (although it can be 12 if needs must)
  2. If you're waiting 12-24 hours for the steroids to work before having a section, well, that's time you could have spent continuing with the (seriously delayed) induction and try to spare yourself the scar on uterus and the complications that will pose for any future pregnancies.

It's encouraging that you're having some tightening though, and suggests that the propess didn't do absolutely nothing. It may well be possible to break your waters in this case.

Good luck OP, I hope the tightenings develop over night and you have your baby in your arms tomorrow (after some real sleep!)

Just an update- my waters broke on examination and was already 3cm! I had been telling midwives all day I had a horrible pressure in my bum but the said it was baby position? Perhaps they were contractions?

I’ve been moved up to the labour ward, next examination at 7:30! Ahhhh at last haha

Hi OP!

I was exactly the same and was only 35 weeks when Induction begun! By the 6th/7 day got to about 1cm and was put on the drip. Over 16 hours later DS arrived without any further intervention.

I know the wait is gruelling but I was up on my feet and running around after childbirth and I’m happy I didn’t get a CS. As long as baby is being monitored you’ll be ok. Induction can be a very lengthy process but you’ll be home soon with your D.C. wish you the best

Bin85 · 22/09/2018 09:47

How are the baby`s movements now?

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 22/09/2018 10:19

On the steroids, my twins were born at 34 weeks and my labour was going so fast that although I was given steroids 4 hours later I was in theatre, mine had no problem at all breathing. Maybe it was just luck but I wouldn’t worry, at a later point in the pregnancy.

Mwnci123 · 22/09/2018 16:56

Hurrah OP! Hope all going well.

Update!

My daughter was born at 7:58pm via EMCS

Thanks to all the ladies who helped me through this.
