VBAC after 2 c sections?

Hi all.

Well, as my thread title suggests really. I have a 10 year old who was born 2 months early by c section due to pre eclampsia. I also have a 4 year old who was born by emergency c section after a 42 labour and failed forceps delivery (basically her heart stopped at they performed the episiotomy so did a crash section instead. She was and still is totally fine thank God).

DH and I are considering number 3. Does anyone know if the NHS “allow” you to have a VBAC (or at least try for a VBAC) after 2 precious c sections? This would be very important to me to at least try 🙂

Thanks in advance for your answers x

I think it depends on your hospital/consultant. At Kings in London they were very blasé about Vbac....Water birth was no problem/Vbac after 2 c section no problem!

They're all different though.

I'm pregnant with no. 3 and have had 2 previous sections. My MW told me that in 30 years, she has only ever seen one woman ask for a VBAC after 2 sections. She didn't say whether that woman got her VBAC or not.

I understand that they don't encourage VBAC after 2 sections because of the risk of uterine rupture.

When I had my 2nd emergency section, I asked about it out of curiosity more than anything else. Was told if a 3rd dc had a smaller head than the other 2, they would probably encourage. That might be because our hospital don't do electives until 39+1 at the earliest though and I've always gone into labour before then.

Ds1 emergency section, ds2 prem at 24 weeks VBAC (1.7lbs), dd1 planned section. Dd2, can you believe they originally refused me a section after insisting dd1 had to be section due to my history.

So I believe it'll depend what colour of pants consultant is wearing and what way the wind is blowing Confused

In all seriousness I would go for the planned section. It is a total different experience to a emergency.
