Loosing Colostrum

Ok, over on the due in november thread there are a few of us neurotic pregnant women wondering if our leaky boobs are leaking colostrum, and if so will there be any left for when the baby arrives? I know it seems quite common to be leaking but is it a good or a bad thing? Does anyone have any idea?

I leaked from about 18 weeks pregnant but had loads when the baby was born and now can squirt milk at quite a distance

Not something to worry about. Baby will get as much as is needed over first few days. Good luck

I started leaking at around 21 weeks with my first pg but not in the next 3 (at least not so far... I'm 24/40). Had real probs with productivity with my first baby, but not my 2nd who could have sucked for GB. I think what I'm trying to say is that each pg is diff as is each baby and productivity levels may have less to do with you and more to do with your baby and his/her interest in sucking, at least thats what I found!!

I was leaky on one side from 12 weeks when PG with DD, and I kind of liked it - already had one child (DS now 2.5) and the new colostrum in the bath each night helped me remember about BF and everything. The one thing I've noticed is that the side it leaked from has turned out to be my more productive side now that DD is here (4 months old today).

thought I was leakeing loads this morning but it turned out to be toothpaste

I'm leaking loads (same as last time ). I'm storing what I can catch as I know several ladies who's babies were bottle fed formula by hospital staff when they had to have post birth ops. So, just in case, I'm hoping to have a wee bit put by in case of emergency! My midwife's supportive, and interested I think to see how it goes....needless to say, there is more on my bedsheets in the mornings than in the freezer at this point in time nonetheless .
