Waters... thoughts???

I was really quite poorly on Sunday (different post) long story short, I had quite severe diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach cramps. During one of my toilet visits, I felt a ‘pop’ which I thought was probably my waters going but I didn’t get the ‘gush’ to associate with it. I genuinely thought I was going into labour and am quite surprised that I’m not sat here holding a baby!
Since Sunday, I’ve been getting sporadic cramps across the middle of my belly, painful enough for me to to feel a bit sick and have to breath through them, sometimes 3 or 4 together but not often enough to count as labour contractions.
I’ve just called the birthing centre, who asked me to call the pregnancy assessment unit. I explained and she basically said that if I wasn’t soaking pads and didn’t get a gush of water then it wasn’t my waters going. I’m sure this isn’t always the case and Considering it is now 48 hours on, I thought they might have at least checked?!

When mine went I felt a pop and then a gush of water, I was having a wee when it happened and felt a little silly phoning the hospital as I thought that they were going to tell me it was just wee. Anyway they wanted me to get checked out due to the risk of infection. I'm surprised they haven't asked you to go in to be checked over.

The hospital said that if my waters did break they would induce me within 24 hours luckily my baby arrived within 3 hours.

Could you not speak to your midwife and see if there's anything she can do to see if they have broke?

A month ago I had the smallest dribble ever, I almost didn't bother going to the hospital but turned out it was my waters and my baby was here the next day. Very unprofessional and negligent of your hospital as I was told that you have 24 hours to get baby out once any amount of water leaks. Just turn up to triage and they will have to check by using a swab and testing the sample!

Waters can definitely dribble - always worth checking with your midwife. Do you have a thermometer? One of the first signs of infection (which is what they will be concerned with) is a raised temperature. My waters went early with both pregnancies. After being checked out at the local maternity unit I was sent home and told to monitor my temperature every couple of hours for the next 2 days, before being called in for an induction. Good luck!

The same thing happened to me and I was sure it was my waters, went straight in to triage to be assessed and the swabbed me to check if it was my waters leaking. Luckily it wasn’t but they said if anything like that was to happen again to come straight in. I was worried about wasting their time but they are so reassuring so please go in and get checked just to be safe!

Thanks ladies, I must admit I’m very surprised by the reaction I got after sitting up reading and worrying all night!
My midwife at the gp only works Fridays otherwise I’d have spoken to her instead.
I’ve put a pad on for now, I’m pretty sure there isn’t any leaking as such, so maybe I’m worrying over nothing, but when I go for a wee the paper seems to be too wet?! So it’s tiny amounts if I am leaking.
Tummy pains are still coming and going so I guess I’ll just monitor my temperature for a bit and see what happens... all very odd.

37 weeks and sometimes when I go to the loo I have a popping sensation but I assume he's just really pressing on everything. Not had any waters leaking and I have BH all the time. If you are worried please get checked over :)

Mine went before any contractions started, I felt a pop and a small gush, then after that I was using g pads but wasn't soaking them like you would imagine. I would insist on getting checked because I had to be induced but because they took so long to get labour started and for her to be born, my baby girl ended up being readmitted with sepsis at 2 days old x

Call your labour line. Mine only partially broke. The midwife didn't believe they had broken at all...
They induced 30 hours later and had to break my remaining hindwaters, and baby was born 55 hours after the initial break I felt.

Both baby and I ended up with infections and spend a week in hospital and antibiotics as we were left too long. I would suggest you call them and at least get checked out.
