Feel like I'm never going to go into labour....

Hi there

Am 40+6 today. Had acupuncture yesterday, a pregnancy massage the day before and a 'failed' sweep today (midwife couldn;t reach my cervix). Have been doing the sex, the pineapple, the raspberry leaf tea etc etc but NOTHING!!!!!!

I feel like I am never going to go into labour naturally and that an induction is inevitable - plans for home birth drifting away. If anything, any pre labour signs have ground to a halt. Has anyone felt the same only to go into labour the next day???

Struggling with frustration as you can probably tell. How can I keep the faith???

Thanks :-)

Still here - today am going to try weeding the garden and saying to the baby 'You will come today'!! Have another sweep booked for later today at 2.00. Fingers crossed :-)

Hope you are feeling better today leo1978. I'm feeling like you are and I am only just 38 weeks! I am going to be a complete nightmare if this baby still isn't here in 4 weeks!

Good luck - sending labour vibes (though not too many coz I want some for myself!)

NineUnlikelyTales · 03/06/2007 13:15

Leo I'm impressed you can still bend down that far!

vespertine · 03/06/2007 14:58

I'm still here too Leo - hope your sweep/weeding works, i'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I'm even starting to look forward to the prospect of induced labour on my birthday now, anything just to sleep on my tummy again!

Minipop · 03/06/2007 19:01

I am in exactly the same position as you. I am 40+8 today and booked in for an induction on Tuesday (you are not at QC and Chelsea by any chance??). Like you, all my pre-labour signs appear to have stopped. I know I should be enjoying this time - taking time out to read/relax/watch movies etc. Just finding it impossible. Sooo uncomfortable and dreading an induction.

Fingers crossed things happen soon for all us overdue ladies

And so another day - 40+9 today and off for acupuncture with vibrating needles later on. Had a slightly more successful 'sweep' yesterday although not exactly swept as only external bit of cervix reached and not internal. The position and softness is more favourable though acc to midwife. Have to see consultant to discuss induction tomorrow. Hoping some kind of crazed coincidence will kick in and my waters will break on route to hospital. If not, I reckon we're looking at Thursday or Friday for induction. Bugger, but at least small baby by weekend (hopefully).

Brilliant thread ladies, I feel very reassured - I am 41+3 and booked in for an induction on Sunday that I DO NOT want!

Threads like these make me feel a bit stronger and better equipped to make a decision. Many thanks.

beckmo · 13/06/2007 15:35

Oh Leo this thread has really helped me. I'm 40 plus 5 today and have been really tearful the last two days. Also doing all the things listed here but motivation dwindling!Made myself go on a LONG, LONG walk in the sun today which made me feel better but good god I'm bored, despondant and have lost all focus that there is actually a baby at the end of all this.Even though I keep getting birth announcements (and coffee cancellations) off all the other pregnant women I know...

But it has given me perspective to read here that I could have several more days left...or it could happen tonight.

Good luck x

Oh Beckmo, I'm so sorry to hear you're so

Also to all the other ladies on this thread.

{{{BIG HUGS}}}} (If I'm allowed )

I felt like this for ages even tho I only went a bit overdue, but had vague ctx on and off for a few weeks, so thought he would be early iyswim. In the end there were no signs at all, it just started, I didn't even think the first ones were contractions and certainly didn't believe I was going to have him at all...it took me by surprise, which was good really.

I don't know if it helps at all, but the things I remember from about 3 days before were that I was totally exhausted (really had had enough) and didn't think I'd have reserves left for labour (well, I did, somehow) and I went into town on a bumpy bus the day before, with DS (4), which was quite an effort. Just desperate by then.

I also said a quick paryer that night, to the effect of 'Oh God, I really can't do this any more, please let it be soon'...even though I don't really pray as a rule.

Next morning it all happened.
Hoping and wishing for some relief for all of you dear ladies xxxxxx

Ah thanks FA. I do feel exhausted and at the end of my tether today which my midwife got excited about -until she saw my cervix that is!Was also thinking 'how will I cope if i go into labour -I'm soooo tired".

Got on the tube and went to Topshop on Oxford Circus thinking that might set me off. It didn't -but I did buy two nice tops for breastfeeding which cheered me up a bit.

Haven't resorted to praying yet but not far off!And only a week late too...could be another 5 days or more....

flightattendant · 15/06/2007 19:20

Honey! You just never know. I'll be waiting to hear the moment you get a twinge!!!
