C section scar infection. Worried

Hi all
Just looking for some reassurance as my new baby hormones have me all over the place at the moment!
I had a c section 15 days ago and on Sunday I noticed my scar was a bit smelly and took myself to the GP who did a swab and prescribed me flucoxiccilin. Didn’t seem to be getting any better if anything slightly worse - no major pain but generally irritated and still a bit weepy - anyway I saw the GP yesterday who changed my antibiotics to co amoxiclav and said I need to go back Monday and if no change I might need IV antibiotics in hospital.
Now I’m a bit of a state totally worried that something serious is going on and I’ll have to go into hospital with a 2 week old and a toddler. Have all sorts of crazy things running through my head (am also v tired!)
Anyone have a similar experience or know anything about infections and can reassure me??

Hi. I had AB's with an infected wound but it did respond. Not quite the same thing, but my Mum ended up in hospital on IV AB's, after a post operative wound got infected. It's a good way to treat a difficult infection, it means the dose/timings are optimised.
Presumably the baby would have to come in with you, but do you have someone who could look after your toddler?
My Mum made a full recovery from quite a nasty infection, try not to worry too much.

Thank you. Am hoping I respond with these antibiotics. Not sure how long it takes to work.

Just an update in case anyone reads this thread in the future.
Have been on co amoxiclav for 5 days. It isn’t responding quickly not sure it’s responding at all honestly. My wound is still weepy and hot and I’m feeling pretty miserable. I saw a different GP today who wanted to extend my antibiotics for a week.
One of the bacteria I have grown is called pseudomonas and it’s oretty horrid. The GP said it’s something they’d like my body to clear but I’m not sure I’m happy with that.
Just don’t know how long this is going to take to feel better. All together it’s pretty crap.

Shame you're still not better. Sounds like the GP is hopeful you will improve though, not what you need right now though.
Have you got enough support at home so you can rest properly?

Have they tested you for MRSA, because my Csection scar came open twice in the month after having it, and it turned out to be MRSA. Have been left with a horrible scar from where they reclosed it. Maybe double check they tested you for it, although I'm sure they will have.

I’ll ask them. I am not happy that it’s getting better so have come into triage for someone to look at it.
Thankfully my mum has been able to come down to look after our toddler so me and DH and new baby can be here. Sigh.

How are you doing OP?

Currently up feeding the newborn. Eesh I’d forgotten how tiring these first few weeks are.
So the doc that looked at me was amazing and actually the same one who delivered our newest addition. She swabbed me again and cleaned and packed the scar with gauze. She’s explained the lack of treatment for the pseudomonas- I’m not immune compromised so it should be something my body can clear with the co amoxiclav - and has also tested my urine for the UTI I felt like I was starting with.
Essentially it’s the same. She didn’t feed that it wasn’t healing but agreed it was angry. She’s given me til Saturday to start feeling better and if not I’m under instructions to come back. So far it’s still angry but perhaps a little less hot to touch??
It’s so hard to know! Snails pace healing truly. But definitely not getting worse.

Oh and no MRSA and no necrotising fasciitis

Ah well, at least you've been given a better explanation by this doctor. The first few weeks are truly knackering!
