Hi. Any ladies doing hypnobirthing classes or reading the books? Started on Thursday and loved it xxx

I did a course before my second labour, it was fantastic. Recommend it to anyone. I was still on my ball breathing through contractions just fine until pushing stage when it got a bit more intense and I asked for G&A, baby arrived less than 45 min after that.

I'm using Positive Birth Company digital pack - hoping it will help!

I found the classes brilliant. I used the breathing exercises at home while doing yoga/ bouncing on ball and didnt go into the birthing unit until I was already 8cm dilated (was v surprised to be told this when they examined me!). Used gas and air, and had a water birth. Midwives remarked how calm I was with each contraction. Good luck!

My daughter in law did something to herself without the aid of a course that meant for almost all of her labour she was absolutely still and silent. I asked if it was hypnobirthing and she said she’d seen one you tube video about it but she hadn’t given it any thought afterwards. She said she doesnt have a name for what she did, it’s just something that happened at the time. Even during the pushing stage there was no noise, nothing, though we did chat and have a laugh during contractions.

After 5 children and being at the births of all 6 of my grandchildren I can honestly say I’ve never seen anything like it. Even her obstetrician was intrigued by it.

To be honest we were speaking about it one day at home and I said to her there were times I felt like holding a mirror up to your lips to see if you were still alive.

She honestly didn’t make a sound for 9 hours and when she did it was in the final stages when she just spoke to and laughed with me and my son.

Yes, with my 4th pregnancy. It was fantastic. I wish I'd heard about it from number one. It was brilliant. I recommend it to EVERYONE.

I couldn't afford the classes on top of all the other things I needed to buy so just read the book. It made so much sense!

I didn't really think about putting things into practice, they just seemed to come naturally. The midwife noticed though and asked if I had learnt about hypnobirthing. Managed to get through the whole labour without any medication or gas & air.

This was my first labour and there was a fear of not knowing what to expect (and how bad the pain would be) but I used the techniques to keep me calm and to go with the flow.

Must add, while I tried the visualisation bits while I was pregnant that wasn't really me. The techniques I used were just the breathing and relaxing, which was enough.

For me it was brilliant for early labour but DS was in a funny position which felt really wrong but no one was listening to me, due to it being my first.

DS was fine, but when he came out the obstetrician and senior midwife both looked very sheepish as due to marks on his face and neck it was clear I'd been able to identify quite a serious (and potentially deadly) issue that they'd ignored. As I knew something was wrong and they weren't listening (despite me being clear and specific about the issue) I got quite panicked.

Hypnobirthing made me feel as though I'd failed to birth him properly as my body couldn't do it, and there were issues.

I’m doing it. The classes have been so useful and I feel excited and really relaxed about labour as I know that my body knows what to do. I thought I’d struggle with the affirmations in particular, but I love all of it.

I brought the Sophie Flecture audio book as didn't want to pay for the classes. I found that listening to the book when in the bath helped me have a really calm and chilled pregnancy and stopped me worrying about labour however it didn't help me when I went into labour.

I had such a quick labour (3 hours in total) and everything happened so quickly I didn't have chance to put the visualisation techniques into practice.

Would definitely recommend if your feeling anxious whist pregnancy though

Haven't had my baby yet but have done hypnobirthing... Really recommend it for preparing mentally for labour :-)
