Hi guys,

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good sturdy, comfortable, self heating pool. Our hot water system is not up to doing the job. I have looked at the birthworks pool and it looks very nice but am not sure as the sides are hard and wonder if leaning on it will hurt my arms after a while.

could use some advice.

xx

hey there,

when we hired ours we were guided that we shouldn't use a heated system as if you are in there a while the pump can breed bacteria which if it got into babies lungs when baby is born could be damaging.

what I would say is that our hot water tank is tiny with baby 1 we had loads if notice that we wanted to fill the pool so we emptied the tank 3 times using the immersion heater to reheat the tank in 30 minutes. once I was in the pool if the temp dropped below 37 (which was the recommended temp)DH boiled the kettle a couple of times which was enough to lift the temp a bit.

hope that helps

But surely if she just filled the pool on the day with enough time for it to get up to the right temperature it wouldn't be any more of a breeding ground than a non-heated pool? Are the pumps not cleaned properly between users?

now you've worried me I didn't realise the pumps were not a good idea. Some of the pools say that they can be set up 7 days before the event and still be clean.

Thanks for the advice anyway xx

Hi. I used a birth works octagon pool for my DDs birth last year. I put a towel over the wooden handrail bit and that was more than enough cushioning.
Good luck
