Transverse / breech baby

Anyone else with a stubborn little baby who refuses to play ball and get into the correct position. How would you describe their movement? I'm getting lots of squirming and wriggling but not big kicks as such, the occasional bladder jab but that's all. This is my first baby so nothing to compare it all.

Is anyone else experiencing the same or had a previous pregnancy like this?

My baby is transverse and have more squirms than kicks now but do still have the odd kick
I did end up at hosp for reduced movements a few days ago.
If you are suffering from reduced movements get checked

Both my pregnancies had their head in my hip and never engaged, in fact it was nice as their bottoms were not under my ribs, instead they moved and their bottom would stuck out of my side lol - first I had a failed induction and EMCS the second my same consultant just said elective section unless something drastically changes - fine by me, it was another section - perfect Wink

How many weeks are you? If you're worried ring midwife but it's likely to be just fine, but don't risk not asking - bothering them isn't an issue they're happy to make you feel more calm and happy

DD was transverse, and spent most of the last few weeks doing somersaults - she was measured in every possible position during the last 10 days of my pregnancy. I don't remember much kicking, but there was a lot of movement!

How far through are you? I had an elcs (I had ecv, where a consultant turns the baby from the outside, but she turned back) at 39+1.

Thank you for the replies ladies, it's really helpful to hear other people's experiences of this. There doesn't seem to be a ton of info out there on transverse babies.

I'll be 34 weeks tomorrow. I've had a few instances where I've been a bit worried about lack of movement but she always seems to pass the kick/movement test where I lay on my side and the 10 movements usually take around 30 mins or so.

It's not that I don't feel her move, you can feel her changing positions slightly and I can often feel hard lumps, presumably her bum or limbs poking out against my stomach. They're not the hard kicks and punches that you hear people talking about though.

My midwife has always been quite laid back and told me her positioning is only an issue if she's still like that by 36 weeks. They would try and manually turn her then if she's not moved.

Mine was in the right position but I only got squirms and no real kicks.

EmeryisntthenewWenger · 11/07/2018 21:12

Mine was transverse breech with his head under my ribs. They tried turning at 37 weeks and no luck. Ended up having a CS.
Movement was minimal as he just didn’t have any room, just the odd prod down by my pelvis.

PsychoPumpkin · 11/07/2018 21:17

My last baby was transverse but also free to flip around, she was head down while I was in the Labour room but as soon as my dial Arion was checked she flipped back to transverse.

Had a section in the end and she was presenting breech at the time.

Csection was great 👍🏻

Does anyone know if babies can flip late, and become transverse (sideways) late? Since this morning the pressure in my pelvis/on my bladder has gone and it feels a bit empty in my pelvis. Its actually rather comfortable, but as i am 36W i am worried the baby had turned. Was head down up till now. Terrified.

SheepyFun · 17/07/2018 21:59

Once I knew what to look for, I could feel that DD was transverse, in that I could find two largish round things (her head and bottom) in my abdomen.

Having said that, if you're concerned Harebellmeadow please see a midwife. Attempting a vaginal delivery with a transverse baby is very dangerous for the baby, as the cord can get trapped against your pelvis during contractions, which stops blood flow within it.

Harebellmeadow · 17/07/2018 22:19

Yes i know that transverse means a normal delivery is impossible and not to be attempted. Have a doctors appt tomorrow and will be checked and have to accept how things are. Hoping the baby hasnt flipped to transverse though.

LadyCassandra · 17/07/2018 22:24

Mine did a few flips from transverse to breach between 37-39 weeks. She was born 41+1 head down in the end. Midwife said they usually move head down towards the end.
