Pain in womb area after c section

Hi ladies, I had a c section a little over a week ago now. The first few days I was in complete agony despite taking painkillers which didn't do a great deal apart from make me severely constipated. Thankfully most of the pain has worn off however I am still very very much tender (especially to the touch or when slight pressure is asserted) in my womb area. 😫😢 Standing or laying down really does t make much difference to the pain. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi OP
It still hurting after a week is very usual. It's recommended to rest for at least 6 weeks. Keep taking your pain relief and if you feel better don't totally stop, gradually scale it down.
It's very usual to think I'm fine then do too much and it hurt again

Perfectly normal. I'm 10 weeks pp and still get twinges if I do too much or try to sit up from flat using just my stomach muscles.

Hi ladies, thanks for your responses. I stopped taking prescription pain meds cause it constipated me something chronic. Yh I guess it's still very early days but god it hurts. Yesterday I was pretty much ok but think i over did it a little which is probably why I am suffering today

You've had massive surgery, I had a tiny keyhole op a few years ago and it took nearly a month before I was comfortable doing anything that involved using my torso.

@JohnsonsSpreadsheet yeah I keep forgetting that I have had a big op. I suppose I am just expecting too much of my body at this stage. I kicking myself for stopping my pain relief. It's gonna take me a little while to get the pain back under control again now.

Sometimes this is caused by infection. Hopefully not, but it happens.
Go back to hospital if it doesn't improve over the weekend, your bleeding increases or your temperature goes above 38c.

@mayhew I was actually re admitted into hospital due to an infection and was given antibiotics through IV and was sent home with some which I am still taking.

I've had three sections, this is well within the realms of normal, even more so if you had and are treating an infection.
You shouldn't have stopped taking those pain meds, it makes it all that much harder, you should have been prescribed a mild laxative to take daily to at least soften your bowel movements, I got a big bottle of lactulose with each section and diclofenac for inflammation.
Did you get these?

I had my second during a heat wave and despite drinking 3-4 lts of water to help constipation I still ended up having to use suppositories, not nice but they really help.

Could you ask your GP for a prescription or do you have any left from the start?

@Takfujimoto hi there, few ok well it's nice to have someone else to relate to. I know, I really do regrets stopping them now but I have restarted them again now however they're almost finish as was only given a limited amount from the hospital upon discharge. I will have to make a gp appt to get some more. I have been given suppositories aswell as lactulose the later of which I shall use in conjunction with taking the pain med just to keep me regular. No, they never gave me any anti inflammatory drug. The local hospital I gave birth in is terrible anyway. It's been in special measures for a long time now so not surprised. I had a terrible experience. Unfortunately didn't have much choice since the only consultant led one within god knows how many miles.
