Is this pre-labour?

Yet ANOTHER thread I've started - sorry! Need some Mumsnet advice - since yesterday pm I have had on/off lower periody-type backache, mild nausea and diarrhoea. Been coming and going (not contractions though). Baby still active.
Is this the sort of thing that suggests pre-labour? Haven't called midwife as not contracting and don't feel any urgency.
Thanks in advance, Dinny

The day before i went into labour with dd1 i had to stop driving and ask dh to drive home because my lower back hurt so much so you never know! I didn't have contractions at the time either but i only got the nausea and frequent trips to the loo when i was in established labour but we're all different. Just try and get as much rest as possible because if this does develop into proper labour this could be the last chance for a while to sit and put your feet up!

sounds like it might be to me. Diarrhoea and backache are def signals. Keep us up to date!

Hi Dinny

Had exactly the same thing for about a week now - combined with BH contractions which range from painless to very uncomfortable...

I saw the consultant about something else on Wednesday and she says it's normal. The baby is bigger now and is pressing on a lot of things i.e. stomach, nerves in lower back etc...

How far along are you now? I am 36 weeks...

Thanks for your replies.
Sleeplessmum2be, I really don't want to go into labour now. I'm 37 weeks on Sunday and my previous dd ws pre-term. So it's good if it may be a while off yet - want to go to full term! So your answer is good!
Dejags, we seem to be having similar exp this pg! Wonder if it's because my baby is big like yours.....? (It is you that knows you are carrying a big one, isn't it?)
I don't feel ready to have this baby yet - mentally, that is - so hope it's just body getting ready.
Can't believe I am nearly 37 weeks - v pleased!

Hey Dinny

Very possible hon! When I went in to be monitored (see irritable uterus thread) - the MW told me that it is quite possible that the BH are stronger because the baby is bigger, therefore aggravating the muscle response more than normal...

I have to say that I am ready today for this baby to come ... Finally got our bags finished yesterday. I have always said I think this one will be a week or two early so let's wait and see...

(Just jinxed myself and will be sitting around 2 weeks after my due date going mad now...)

dejags · 13/08/2004 10:47

PS - estimated weight at 35+2 was 7lbs5 (although I know that weight estimation by scan is very unreliable)...

dinny · 13/08/2004 20:23

That is big, Dejags - dd was 6.7 lb at 35+5.

Are you getting lots of uncomfy squirming round? I am the size of a whale!
