Suggestions for last few days before motherhood?

firstimer91 · 07/06/2018 19:06

So I'm 39 weeks booked in for a sweep Monday and suddenly realising my days before becoming a mother (forever) are numbered. My OH works weekends so I am going to be on my own.

Anything new Mother's wish they had done or done more of in the last few days??

Sleep, read books and eat foods that don't agree with breastfed babies (spicy, citrus, garlicy and full of brassicas). Oh and eat lots of chocolate (but that one you can do after too Smile)

didireallysaythat · 07/06/2018 19:13

Cinema. Mooch around shops. That sort of thing

Naschkatze · 07/06/2018 19:22

I'm just going to repeat PP, definitely go to the cinema.

I haven't been in 16 months and it's not looking likely any time soon!

GullsHelp · 07/06/2018 19:24

Sleep and eat.

Doublechocolatetiffin · 07/06/2018 19:26

Definitely sleep as much as you can (I know often easier said than done - I couldn’t sleep at all at the end of my pregnancy!)

Maybe go and have a nice massage or have meals out with your OH, things that will become more challenging with a baby!

whiteonred · 07/06/2018 19:27

No, very happy with how I spent my last few days, pottering about the house, afternoon naps, resting, relaxing, more sleep. Twas great. Forget all this 'bucket list' type bollocks around. Really, why stress yourself out about what you should do. Just live in the day and do what you feel like doing on that day. Enjoy!

IdblowJonSnow · 07/06/2018 19:28

Rest, do nothing, sleep! Or film/ get your hair done.

RJnomore1 · 07/06/2018 19:30

Go to the cinema.

I missed the cinema more than anything .

kirta · 07/06/2018 19:31

I had a lovely pedicure! In one of those massage chairs. Gave birth 4hrs later, 5hrs before my sweep was due! Now I'm not saying there was a connection, but maybe!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 07/06/2018 19:32

spicy, citrus, garlicy and full of brassicas there’s no evidence for this though is there 123?

Like others have said, sleep, sleep and sleep some more. If DH is working all weekend, can you meet up with a friend?

kirta · 07/06/2018 19:33

@RJnomore1 cinema near me does baby cinema. A different film every Thursday, lights slightly up, sound lowered and free coffee. All for a fiver!

GetInMyNelly · 07/06/2018 19:35

Sleep, sleep & sleep!!

muststoplurking · 07/06/2018 19:36

Full english breakfast for sure

hannahbanana2007 · 07/06/2018 19:36

Also say cinema, once the baby is here it seems like too much effort/cost to get a babysitter just for cinema!

TheExhausted · 07/06/2018 19:44

Make sure you're on top of cleaning (but don't overdo it!) I left loads of clean washing in a pile in my spare bedroom that built up and up when DS was tiny as he arrived 2 weeks earlier than expected. And then sleep as much as you can. Cinema is a good idea too, I haven't been since 16mo DS was born.

Torvi · 07/06/2018 19:46

Eat out in places that aren't child friendly

Icklepickle101 · 07/06/2018 19:49

A haircut/eyebrows/pedicure. Made me feel much more human in the early days Smile

Our local cinema does baby cinema too so i wouldn’t write it off. DS went every week from 2 weeks old!

Assume you’ve done a lot of batch cooking, got your laundry up to date etc?

Screaminginsideme · 07/06/2018 19:52

Enjoy going to the loo alone- long bath with a book.

bourbonbiccy · 07/06/2018 20:01

I couldn't sleep just before DS birth. I would recommend a good long soak in the bath, have your nails and hair done ....pamper , pamper and more pamper. That's probably the only thing I struggled to do soon after DS arrived. Hope everything goes really well for you ...congrats !!

Hopeful16 · 07/06/2018 20:02

Walk in and out of the house without lots of stuff 😂

Eat meals with a knife AND fork as most eating in my first few months of being a mum was one handed.

I agree with hair, eyebrows and nails but my LO decided to arrive two weeks early so I had to cancel all of my appointments.

WaitRun · 07/06/2018 20:19

Cinema, go out for dinner with DH and friends, sleep and just relax and enjoy.

123bananas · 07/06/2018 21:13

None other than circumstantial JJJ with all of my 3 cutting those things out improved the windy colicy episodes in the newborn days. Once they were older they were fine with it.

CoolGirlsNeverGetAngry · 07/06/2018 21:19

Yes to sleeping and pampering. I had a haircut booked for the weekend AFTER my baby arrived. I look like shite in all the pictures. Get your hair done and nails if that’s what you like.

tenbob · 07/06/2018 21:25

Sleep, haircut and pedicure

I've never been to the cinema more than when I had a newborn
Baby-friendly cinema every week with my NCT group was the highlight of my week!

RJnomore1 · 07/06/2018 22:44

Baby cinema sounds amazing 😮
