I had a horrific forceps vbac with my first, lots of complications and 7 months recovery. Just wondering how many of you in similar situations opted for elcs 2nd time around? I'm at the start of my 2nd pregnancy, midwife is very supportive but i haven't been to see consultant yet. I hear stories of lovely water births for 2nd babies which makes me second guess myself but can I really risk it ? Family say no. Would like to hear your stories

VBAC as your first? Doesn't make sense was it a vbac or was it your first child?

I had similar experience to you and had broken coccyx as a result so would need to have ELCS if / when there was another time x

Presuming you mean vaginal birth not VBAC (which stands for 'vaginal birth after ceasarean' - so can only be used to describe a birth when you've had at least one baby by caesarean section already)?

With regard to elcs second time - I had to have a c-section second time due to the damage done by the first c-section (crash section) and it was brilliant. Had no problems breastfeeding etc, the recovery was good - you do have to take the fact you've had serious abdominal surgery seriously and not get up and about doing stuff quickly or you will have long term consequences - but other than that I had a great experience. Good luck Flowers.

Hi, you have my sympathy! I was the same and felt so traumatised it has taken me 6 years to consider having another one (currently 34weeks). I decided straight away I wanted a c section and was prepared to fight for it. I was amazed at how supportive everyone has been. It was booked in at before 20weeks so that I would have peace of mind for the rest of the pregnancy. Will update how I get on but the support I have received was amazing.

Oh didn't realise that was the wrong abreviation! Thanks for the input, I'd love to hear how you get on lndnmummy. What gestation are they booking you in for?

I had a similar experience with DC1 almost put me off DC2 but I'm now 5 weeks pregnant. Absolutely crapping myself and terrified they won't give me an elective. But I'm going to fight for one.
