Different methods of induction?

Trying to make a decsion as to wether or not to allow induction at 41wks - not allowed to go over this due to previous CS. Last time had pessaries then ended up having waters broken and put on syntocin drip. Had bad reaction to pessaries and was so sore needed G&A to get through the VE and further pessaries.

If induction this time means pessaries i've a mind to wimp out and go for ECS as can't face being that sore again - in fact the thought of any kind of VE just now makes me feel sick - def won't be having a sweep which was another bad eperience!

Anyway what I was wandering is, when I was at the hospital monday for a scan (34wks) the reg I saw spoke about tablets for induction - did she just mean pessaries or are there other forms that I could request (didn't think to ask at time) - really keen to have a VBAC if at all poss.

I never had to be induced, but would have pulled out all the stops to avoid it judging from everything I have heard. The drip to "speed things up" which I did have was quite bad enough thank you very much. However, I was told that acupuncture is a dead cert. to bring on labour, more sure than fresh pineapple, hot curry, hot baths, hot sex etc! Can't claim to have tried any of them though, well not to start labout anyhow

Twiga, I'm just outside of Forfar, a VBACer and a Trainee Doula. If you feel the need for any extra support please shout.

Twiga, if you google Angus Birth Companion you should find me!

By the way, I had a doula with me, which I think helped..it really is worth considering if you're at all intimidated by hospital policy. I wasn't particluarly but wanted someone with me as support in my defence to do it the way I wanted. I also questioned my own ability to give birth vaginally and knew dh would be hopeless in arguing against doctors.

like everyone else has said, it's your decision not theirs (and that applies to everything, from induction to the so called 'strict timetable').
do you have any doulas free near you? I had one for my 3rd and she was great.
ds1 was failed induction/c section but ds2 was a great, easy vbac, technically a week over by uk dates but on time by french dates, again that gives you some idea of how accurate these dates are, not! dd1 needed a sweep to get going but that started contractions off immediately.
i've personally found the best approach to consultants etc is less to do with bringing in papers/arguing the toss on statistics etc but just reading up, making my own mind up, hearing them out and then just repeating my decision as often as required until it has desired effect. maybe I've just been lucky with mine, but they've always been fine with that approach
