If you're first was back to back, was your second?

My first baby was back to back, waters went first then nothing and the resulting induced labour was rough, nearly ending in CS (though from things I've read it could have been worse). I am now expecting our second, due October, and really hoping it won't go the same way. Midwife has told me there's no reason to think it will, but she's also the same midwife that last time told me back to back is not a problem when it comes to giving birth Hmm. I'd just like to know what the odds are. If you had a back to back birth the first time did it go any better with the second or was it the same again?

Yes, all three. Long and painful.

My first was back to back and my waters went first too. I made very quick progress initially but was trying to push for two hours. All over in 6 hours altogether, from the first contraction.

Second was not back to back and much easier. I'm not sure when my waters broke as I was in a water pool.

First back to back induction which ended in forceps in theatre, second normal position and ds2 was out within 6 mins of the first push.
Hope all goes well

Nope. Only first was back to back.
Others knew what to do.

Both mine were back to back.
1st labour was 14 hours with 4 hours of that pushing. The labour was long because the baby was so big with big head and I am a small person. Also started pushing whilst in the pool and that slowed it down and made it longer than necessary. Eventually had to get out and the baby was born on the bed. 3rd degree tear.
2nd was 2.5 hours from start to finish, pushing for about 30 mins. Episiotomy and tear. Was also a baby with a large head but not as big as the 1st!
The midwives told me it was harder to push when back to back and you feel more pain in your back. Obviously I don’t have a front to back birth to compare it to but seems that the size of the baby and baby’s head were the issues rather than the position.
I was terrified second time round and refused a c-section so thankfully it was all fine.

Should have mentioned that 1st nearly ended in CS too but I was determined to do natural. Healing after that birth took far longer than a CS.
Second was much easier.
