Was everyone induced with gest diabetes?

Just been diagnosed with only borderline so only on diet. 35 weeks now and diatician just told me that drs more than likely want to induce me around 38 weeks?? Is that the case with everyone or do they sometimes let you go to full term?

I was diagnosed very early, 25 weeks. Managed to control it with diet only. I'd had a section with my first baby so they offered one at 38 weeks but I declined. I went naturally at 39 + 5 but they would have induced at exactly 40 weeks if nothing had happened.

I was diagnosed at 26 weeks, diet controlled for a fortnight, metformin until 36 weeks, insulin until induction at 39+4, ended up with emcs

In my trust the policy is, diet controlled you are induced at 40w, if you are on any medication at all for it then it’s 38w.

I ended up induced at 37 - I was expected to go full term because I was diet controlled with perfect numbers, but the last growth scan suggested she’d dropped down centiles, and they worried about the placenta etc.

I was due to be induced at 40weeks (exactly) but she came early. Think they tend to plan 38w induction if on medication (mine was diet controlled). Good luck!

Thanks all I have a scan and dr app when I’m 36+3 so will see what they say then but hoping my numbers and scan will be ok and then I will try and push for full term!

My trust will induce at 39 weeks if on medication, or 40+6 if not.

Crunchymum · 27/04/2018 21:59

My trust was induction at 40+6 if unmedicated.

I ended up on Metformin and then insulin (one shot a day) and the plan was induction around 39w and I think if I'd pushed and all had been OK with my blood sugars, they would have let me go to term. As it happens my growth scan at 37w showed some signs of potential placental disease. Scan a few days later showed the same so I was induced at 38w.

Induced at 38 weeks. I was on medication.

I had a planned section, booked at booking, so ten weeks.
But I was given all the GD info when diagnosed a lot later on. I could go to 40+6 naturally, and then be induced. If I went naturally I could do whatever I wanted. If I was induced I'd be monitored closely.

It is always your choice whether to be induced or not.

I am diet controlled, currently 40+4. I queried why they wanted to induce me at 40 weeks and was told it was hospital protocol - there is no evidence that there is a greater risk to me or baby. I declined as I am planning a homebirth and have said I will only consider induction later on if something changes in regards to me or baby.
