I had a really good experience overall. I was in active labour for just under 5 hours and no tears, only scratches. No assistance needed.

I stayed as mobile as I could on birthing ball. The worst part for me was transition but overall was good.

Best of luck!

Shaunieh95 · 23/03/2018 21:47

Wow thy was good @confuddledconfudle did you have the pessarys or just the hormone drip?

I'm dreading the thought of being stuck in there all week 😩

Mine lasted 4 days, I had the strip pessary, the tablet pessary, didn't work so ended up having my waters broken and on hormone drip. It actually wasn't too bad!

Ginger1982 · 23/03/2018 22:02

I had 3 pessaries at 6 hour intervals with nowt happening so was in hospital with nothing happening for 2 days. Then had waters broken about 2am, put on drip, laboured all day, failed forceps and eventually emergency section. Sorry, know that's probably not what you want to hear! Good luck though, every experience different!

pastabakewithcheese · 23/03/2018 22:32

I had a 28 hour labour. Pessary, waters broken, hormone drip, contractions were HORRIBLE I couldn't stand up, begged for the epidural and I'm so afraid of needles, The I had no idea how to push when you're effectively numb, so it was a ventouse cap and episiotomy and I also tore and haemorrhaged and lost a litre of blood...worst thing was I genuinely do not think I had IUGR and even the consultant said she is a small baby and not IUGR.

I regretted the induction especially after I was told I was naturally contracting, but I was told after I was given the pessary!

Mrsramsayscat · 23/03/2018 22:35

I think it's tricky to draw conclusions as everyone is different. Good luck and hopefully all will go well.

fitbitbore · 23/03/2018 22:36

Are these pre term or past term inductions?

NoParticularPattern · 23/03/2018 22:43

I had one pessary and progressed to normal vaginal delivery from that. Pessary in at 11am, pains started around 5pm ish. Waters went at 9pm by which time I was 4cm. 6cm by 11pm and DD born at 3.40am. Active labour was 6hrs 45mins and pushing for 8mins. Second degree tear but have healed very well and wouldn’t hesitate to do it again!!

confuddledconfudle · 24/03/2018 07:46

@Shaunieh95 I had pessary put in day before but it didn't really do much.

I was induced at 38 weeks. Baby was 7 and half pounds and was my first.

Natsku · 24/03/2018 08:58

I was induced post-term as waters leaked and contained meconium. Was put straight on the hormone drip, was very unpleasant I must admit as there was no time for it to build up slowly. I expect an induction which doesn't need to be so rushed would be easier as it can build up slower and you would tolerate it better.

Hope it goes ok for you, good luck!

I had my baby yesterday. First pessary 7am Thursday had mild contractions most of the day that night they realised the pessary had slipped so put it back in place. Got some sleep.

Next morning contractions started regular took pessary out and sent to to delivery suite for waters to be broken. Waters broke at 2cm and I’d given birth exactly an hour later in the pool with gas and air!
I had got consultant to agree that if induction was progressing well I could go in!

However it was so quick and so intense in the end I felt quite overwhelmed! Feel better today already though x

Shaunieh95 · 24/03/2018 12:07

Thanks guys really don't know what it expect.

I'm getting very inpatient though as they told me they can ting any time from 6am right up until midnight tonight for me to go in!

So sat around glued to my phone incase they call😩

Well got here and didn't need pessary, had waters broken at midnight, back to back contractions by myself so didn't need drip either!

Had to have epidural as back to back contractions were so painful and currently 9cm!!

Sunshinesaz86 · 25/03/2018 13:13

Wow good luck you’ll probably have had your baby now!! Exciting z

Shaunieh95 · 26/03/2018 01:13

Unfortunately got stuck at 9cm for 6 hours (poor baby now has come head from been trapped in the cervix so long 😩😢) there was a tiny bit of cervix round the back that wouldn't disappear so ended up with a drip was only on an hour and was fully dilated, baby born 40 mins later! Although slightly smaller than we expected still a beautiful 5lb 13. I am so in love

Well done! Flowers

lauraSW · 26/03/2018 04:45

I went for my induction but they managed to break my waters. Unfortunately baby in a very awkward position so after around 18 hours of reg/strong contractions I was still stuck at 3cm.
As my contractions were strong they'd held off the drip, at this point they decided I needed it. I was exhausted at this point so asked for an epidural first...queue a 6 hour wait and no further progress on exam before that went up.
At the next exam 6 hours later I was fully & managed to deliver without assistance.
I'd just say it can be a long process and it's mentally tough to take pain without progress as well as physically exhausting. Don't worry about getting good pain relief on board...there's no medal for not doing!! I think I'd have made much quicker progress had I had the epidural sooner, my body needed a break from the pain. The drip was barely needed.

Lauren83 · 26/03/2018 05:45

I had induction at 39 due to big baby, went in first thing Monday and started the pessaries at intervals, nothing happening after 4 and they couldn't find my cervix so was booked in for a section on the Wed that was then cancelled and finally had the section Thu, amazing experience and very quick recovery, home Friday afternoon. Good luck!

confuddledconfudle · 26/03/2018 19:26

@Shaunieh95 fantastic news - enjoy your new bundle

chocolatesun · 26/03/2018 19:30

I had two inductions and they both went well, had the baby within 24 hours, no tearing, no epidural and quick Labour. The first time I was told it would take ages and suddenly the baby was out in a huge rush! The one thing about inductions is that they can be very intense, and you can go from 2 - 10 cm dilated really quickly as it’s started atificially.

Good luck to you. Trust your body to do what it needs to do and keep your focus on that beautiful baby who will be in your arms very soon

chocolatesun · 26/03/2018 19:31

Oh just realised you’ve probably had your baby now! Ignore my previous post
