Elective c-section

How common is it to go into labour naturally before your elective section date?

Im being booked in between 39-39+5, my last baby was born at 40+2 but this one is head Down fully engaged at 35 weeks ( with an estimated weight of 7lb 2 currently ) I just don't think it's going to wait until 39+5?

So I wondered how many people go into labour naturally before there date?

I went into early labour (waters broke) just over 24hrs before my planned section. Went into the hospital, they hooked me up to a monitor, confirmed I was in labour and asked if I still wanted the section. I said yes and they popped me on the list for the day.

Went into labour at 1am, in hospital at 3am, stayed overnight so I could be monitored and avoid any risk of the labour speeding up. 9am, taken down to theatre, 9:30am baby born! It was technically a emergency section but it didn't feel like one at all. I was barely in labour really (contractions 10 mins apart) so it was all very controlled!

‘They made people do labour’ that sounds ridiculous.

If you have had asked what you said in your second post, then that doesn’t sound ridiculous.

This is what happened ti me last week- elective c-section was booked for 4 April (due date was 9th of April). Waters broke on 17th of March, so I ended up with emergency c-section. If your elective is already booked, they will do an emergency in case if you go on labor earlier (you have to ask for it, they told me I can still do a vaginal birth, but I insisted on c-section, so they did).

tlnejntr I think it was the reference to "do they just let anyone nowadays" to me that sounded a a little dismissive and patronising.
