ooh, you asked for this!

I'm always chuffed to bits when I see your opinion on treads.

Your advice is always borne out to be sound, you're unbelievably empathic and compassionate.

What with all your advice about maternity units, BF and looking after newborns, I've moved from resenting my pregnancy (I was determined to terminate) to feeling pretty confidant that DH and I will cope (somehow!) with a baby. grateful is an understatement........

The fact that you have a stressful career in the NHS AND you find time to come on MN and listen to all us neurotic first-timers - I think you'll find that makes you a fabby person.

Sincerely hope you're beetroot now!

Mears - take a bow!

Now who is the monkey ? (she types grinning)

Thankyou so very much for your kind words. I do love being on mumsnet

mears · 03/08/2004 22:36

Forgot to say, just before i go to bed (am working in the morning), that the support I have got from mumsnet has really helped me through some difficult personal times. I would also say that the information that I have gained from mumsnet mums has really improved my practice. Thank you all.

monkeygirl · 03/08/2004 22:44

Hear hear - Mears's advice is so much better than those other 'Ask the Experts' type articles websites have.

When I thought I was in labour you said it was more likely I was in pre-labour but would probably go into labour within two days - and you were right.

Aero · 03/08/2004 22:45

Bless you mears - you seem like one in a million!

kalex · 03/08/2004 22:49

Will join in the accolades. I wish I had you and Mumsnet when I was pregnant with both my little ones, your advice is always spot on and given so well

Yes, agree . You're fantastic!

(from a neurotic second timer )

sunchowder · 04/08/2004 00:49

Love you too Mears!

Marina · 04/08/2004 11:05

Me too. I only accepted that a second c-section was the best thing for dd's birth after YOU agreed, Mears...never mind my consultant, his reg and the Head of Delivery Suite's views...you are one in a million and we are so lucky to have you.

prufrock · 04/08/2004 14:18

Same here Marina. When Mears (and pupuce) said I should have a second section I knew I should, and even though I had my own lovely midwife for my second pregnancy, I still felt lots better after mears had seconded her advice about exactly when to have the section. We love you Mears

motherinferior · 04/08/2004 14:40

I have actually DREAMED about Mears, and asking her questions about my baby.

AND you've got a sense of humour!

Heathcliffscathy · 04/08/2004 14:45

yes mears...sincere thanks...don't know how you do it!

Angeliz · 04/08/2004 15:02

My thanks too. I had a tiny queerie a few months ago and know my H.V is not my favourite person so i though, "oh i'll ask Mears".

So my thanks too

Nimme · 04/08/2004 15:53

I'll join in. Haven't yet needed your advice - but being 22 weeks pg there's plenty of time

I love reading your calm advice and wish you could pop to Kingston hospital in say 16-18 weeks time....

2ticks · 04/08/2004 19:53

A big "Hooray for Mears" from me too!!

Kif · 04/08/2004 20:18

Second that 'hooray' - mears should print this thread and hang it on her wall, methinks!

Thank you all very much indeed. Glad to be of assistance. I think I will print it off....

mckenzie · 04/08/2004 21:21

well, I'm definitely booking my flights now Mears after all this praise! where abouts in scotland are you?

wobblyknicks · 04/08/2004 21:21

mears - you are wonderful!! Your advice, and more importantly, support when I was bfing dd was honestly one of the very few things that kept me sane - thankyou. And your advice since has been reliable and its brilliant having a supportive ear on mumsnet whenever needed, especially for those of us that have useless mw's/hv's/gp's.

So a big thankyou here too

Pagan · 02/09/2004 19:54

Yup! Sound advice received this morning so a big thankyou and mucho clapping.

edam · 02/09/2004 19:58

Mears, don't know how I managed to miss this thread first time round, but thank you for your advice and understanding.

Tissy · 02/09/2004 20:48

Mears, you should print this off, it will be useful for appraisal- I have to include thank you notes etc in my folder!

Elvis · 02/09/2004 21:21

I must also agree.
If Mears gives advice on mnet, I'll take it!
I've always taken heed of her advice, what a star! It's people like her that make the NHS as great as it is.
