VBAC after previous elective CS?

Looking for postive/negative experiences of a VBAC birth following a previous elective CS.

DD1 was breech so had an elective CS at 39+2. It was textbook, and an amazing experience. The scar is tiny and I found the procedure totally stress free. Although the recovery was painful, I didn't find it horrendous.

This time I am being strongly advised to consider a VBAC. I've researched the risks (RCOG) and now understand that the chances of a successful VBAC statistically are around 70%. Women who have birthed vaginally previously have much higher success rates. Overweight mothers have lower success rates.

I am classed as overweight and have never birthed vaginally, so presume my chances of a successful VBAC are going to be lower, perhaps 50-60%?

I am now trying to weigh up whether to push for a further elective CS. I do recognise the recovery with a 4yr old to manage will be horrendous but would rather a recovery from a planned section than an emergency one.

Any thoughts or experiences of a VBAC would be great, thanks!

I don't have experience of a vbac as I chose ELCS but I had a long (about an hour) appointment with a senior midwife where she went through all the different risk factors for each option, so I got a much clearer idea of my own odds of different outcomes. Hopefully you will be offered something similar.
