Best labour snacks for dry mouth

I'm 38 weeks with DC2. My first labour was long and I didn't sleep or eat much for 2 days and I think my contractions stopped towards the end of my labour because I was dehydrated and had no energy.

Just wondered if anyone managed to eat anything during labour? I had nuts and cereal bars last time but my mouth was so dry I couldn't physically eat them! Every time my DH offered me food I turned my head away like a weaning baby. So I'm thinking something moist Hmm other than bananas...

I ate a punnet of raspberries when I was in labour with DS. DH popped to the little M&S in the hospital.

I just drank water, the midwives told DH to go get me some coke for the sugar but it made me quuezy at the time

DS loves raspberries now Smile

If at any point you get offered a hot chocolate have it! The hospital hot chocolate I had after giving birth was the best I've had. All the lovely sugar and milk perked me right up.

Mmm always up for a hot chocolate! I think I'll get some Ribena or something sugary - don't think I'd fancy anything fizzy.

And fresh fruits sounds like a good idea. Thanks!

I took small cartons of juice. I couldn't eat anything but could guzzle one of those for instant energy! Wish I'd taken more.

Someone said to me frozen berries are nice in labour- I’m going to try that this time!

Glucose tablets will keep your blood sugar up and will more or less dissolve in your mouth.
