I'm good thanks, and you? Been doign more reading before completing my written assignment which I MUST hand in soon. Have been getting more gobsmacked that I am learnign all this stuff and the NHS don't seem to have any idea about half of it! I was just reading about the pelvic press to aid brow presentations and want to know why it was never suggested for David....

Anyway we must ask all HBers to plan to have a person on PC duty to update us (on all our varius online forums) so that we aren't kept in the dark. Being an online Doula, or even just an online interested party is soooooooo tough! The wait is excruciating!

Preggers, how are you?

lulumama · 06/05/2007 22:44

yes, the ina may birthing commune has delivered brow presentations vaginally...they have such a low c.s rate..what books you reading? any recommendations? things like the pelvic press have passed into folklore almost....

gingeme · 06/05/2007 22:51

Oh Im so tired.
All the best to you preggers. Realy realy hope you have your bundle real soon and it all goes well.
Will pop in tomm morning. Good luck to you . xxxxxxx

lulumama · 06/05/2007 22:55

me too ginge

sleep well or birth well, preggers x

elkiedee · 06/05/2007 22:56

Wow, good luck preggerspoppet, wonder how I can start labour with internet access if I do get a second chance. I don't think I could/would have got to do homebirth of any kind as it happens - 37, first timer, baby late, had to be induced, am mother of a 66 hour old baby now and I'm so impressed by this thread you can't imagine.

Have put it on watch to check in the morning, or something.

look forward to reading more.

Klaw · 06/05/2007 22:57

that was from Guide to Childbirth, got me hopping mad that mw are not taught this!!! But when I contacted local mw school they don't read the books we have on Essential Reading, it's all Journals and research papers, it would seem. WTF?

Anyway, I thought I must have bored everyone to death by now about Birthing From Within and also Gentle Birth, Gentle Mothering! But I think they are so helpful in letting you see that a woman's body IS designed to birth, that we are not broken but that we are let down by 'progress'.

Ina May's books,

The Doula book

Aims booklet, Delivering your placenta: the 3rd stage.

I also have Silent Knife and Immaculate Deception II

Have left Grantly Dick-Read's Childbirth Without Fear and Michel Odent's Prinak Health till last as they are heavier reading.

Of course there is all the reading online that can be done too....

there are other AIMS booklets I need to get and Jean Sutton's book on OFP

Klaw · 06/05/2007 23:07

that's Michel Odent's Primal Health, getting too tired to type!

flightattendant · 07/05/2007 07:30

Hey sweetpea, I guess you're busy...just found the thread and SO excited for you!!
I'll be glued to MN waiting for news, no pressure or anything...
Sending massively good vibes your way and hoping it all goes really brilliantly.
Good luck!

DoorstoManual · 07/05/2007 07:41

The wait is hard....

I'm thinking of you too Preggers, hope that baby is too scrummy to put down and tell us all about it!

preggerspoppet · 07/05/2007 15:47

sorry to abandon all of you well wishers last night but things moved rather fast after mw came out...

I had a wonderful birth, everything I wanted it to be and I know have another gorgeous little boy to add to my collection! thats three and counting...

waters went at the very last minute which was pretty spectacular, had an amasing second stage, really enjoyed it and a 6 minute ntural third stage which impressed my mw (am allowed to show-off today

so lovely to have so mant people excited for me, just a shame I couldnt keep you updated and make a real live birth thread of it.

we have not decided on a name yet, nor do we have a weight but he has a perfect little face and we are all very happy!

love from a very smug, not so preggers- poppet x

I'd just like to add my congrats, and to say that I'm lucky enough to have seen both mother and baby - he is just a perfect little gorgeous bundle, and Preggers, beautiful as ever, looked as though she had just woken up from a good night's sleep.....
not at all as though she had just been dragged though a hedge, as most of us did....

You're amazing.

Pebblemum · 07/05/2007 16:11

Well done Preggers, hope my labour is as nice and relaxed as yours
