Hi Lullaby, have you been given any advice from your midwife/doctor?
I’m my experience, if there is no medical reason not to go for a vbac, then in terms of coping afterwards, I actually found it easier after a vaginal delivery then a c-section (I had vaginal delivery, c-section, then vbac). Although you’re obviously sore and tender afterwards, I found I had much greater mobility straight away and you can pick your baby up/toddler up etc. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Yeah the drs are all saying to go for vbac.... They seem to think its the easier option for me. Im just so scared of having a similar experience to before and ending up going through hours of labor to end up having an emergency csection/rupture/tear or instrumental birth (they broke my nephews jaw with forceps) obviously i just want to do whats best....

It is scary when you’ve had a traumatic experience and also facing the unknown. It helped me to think that each birth will be unique and that the difficulties experienced in one birth may not manifest in the next. That said, you know how you felt after a c-section and what you were able to do/recovery time so this option may be easier to plan around

5th floor! Can you move? That's hellish with two young kids

I'd suggest VBAC if you can then section if necessary

Good luck

I was where you are now. My first baby went to 42w with a failed induction ending in an emergency CS with a doddle of a recovery. Like you I felt I needed certainty around this experience and on the balance of probability my second baby would likely have gone to 42w as well.

Good things about my second CS:
Certainty around dates
No risk of emergency interventions
Familiar territory

Bad things about my second CS:
Recovery time was FOUR times longer (4w Vs 16w plus wound got infected)
Baby came too early...he was not right at birth (they operated at 39w) and coming from a family who've got a history of 42/43 week pregnancies I wish I'd waited longer for him to arrive.

Very personal choice. The next time I will be asking for a closely monitored final fortnight and if no baby by 42w then a CS.

I didn’t decide, I let nature take its course.

I didn’t set my heart on either outcome.

I had a c section booked In for 40+12 with the plan that if it happened naturally I would try for a VBAC. He arrived 40+7 , VBAC with just gas and air and it was amazing! So glad I did it. I felt that being relaxed and open to either birth helped me massively.
