State of the lady garden

Sorry if this is going to be too much information but what 'hairstyle' did you have in preparation for the birth of your baby.

Basically it's been left to go wild these past 7 and half months. I don't know what the etiquette is, trimmed and tidy, all off, waxed like holiday prep, left at 70s Afro style.

Obviously with a big ridiculous bump in the way I'm gonna struggle doing it on my own. What do you ladies plan on doing or am I getting a bit too carried away

Thanks for reading and hope I've put a smile on your face at least hahaha xx

You won't care when you are in labour.

anotherchangetomyname · 05/03/2018 20:55

I managed to keep it neat and trim all the way through, which is it's normal state.

I remember in labour wishing I'd removed more though Blush

Rumpledfaceskin · 05/03/2018 20:59

I don’t shave normally so I’ll be going in with the full works, I don’t think anyone cares.

PerspicaciaTick · 05/03/2018 21:00

No one cares. Except you, and luckily it is your lady garden to style as you wish.

readyforapummelling · 05/03/2018 21:00

I gave mine a loving trim beforehand but the bloody midwife sliced it to smithereens so my bush was all wonky. I honestly couldn't have gave less of a shit.

ew1990 · 05/03/2018 21:01

You honestly won't care, I tried to shave and thought I'd done a good job, when I gave birth and had a shower afterwards it was all patchy Blush but I didn't give a rats arse just glad it was over

Bumdishcloths · 05/03/2018 21:02

Once you're in labour and 90,000 people have had their hands up there, you won't care, truly Grin

elmo1980 · 05/03/2018 21:02

I'm getting a wax this time round because last time I had everyone telling me the midwives don't care and neither will you, but I really did! Sad as I am I felt myself feeling self conscious at every examination during labour and kept apologising for the state I was in. Then I had a csection and just felt embarrassed that I hadn't done anything.

I have no doubt that medical staff don't care but if this kind of stuff is normally important to you - or youre a bit odd like me - don't assume you won't care during labour.

Torvi · 05/03/2018 21:06

I trimmed with the shaving attachment from my silkepil. I'm glad I did as I felt cleaner during the lochia stage.

StickStickStickStick · 05/03/2018 21:11

Gosh I find it really sad that some people feel they have to apologise for being natural :(

What has happened in t his last 20 years. I'm all up for personal preference but to feel.the need to apologise for being natural is truly sad.

BertrandRussell · 05/03/2018 22:37

I am old enough to remember women campaigning to stop compulsory shaving on admission to the labour ward. It was considered a great triumph when the medical establishment finally gave in. It is utterly heartbreaking that women are now being made to feel embarrassed and even ashamed and feel they have to apologise for their bodies. Sad

Bellamuerte · 05/03/2018 23:53

I hadn't seen mine for months and didn't want to do anything to it that could cause any more pain or sensitivity on top of what I was already about to go through. So I just left it wild. It was far from my biggest concern!

chickhonhoneybabe · 06/03/2018 00:04

Honestly MWs have seen it all...
I would suggest at least having a trim though, as you bleed a fair bit after giving birth and will need to wear sanitary towels for approx 5-10 days, and there’s nothing worse than getting your hair stuck on the sticky bits! 🙈

From a healthcare professionals perspective though, I’m not bothered what your lady garden looks like, I’m more bothered about stinky feet! So if you can try not to wear stinky shoes or socks prior to going into labour it would make me very happy, as it makes me feel 🤢 (not envy) lol! 😂

KittyKK · 06/03/2018 04:20

I was just thinking about this. Planning to book a bikini and leg wax 4 days before ELCS. Can’t face waxing regularly at the moment, so making do with home trims and it is awful!!

WasThatPlaceTHESUN · 06/03/2018 13:09

I'm slightly embarrassed to admit this but I shaved my legs and fanjo when I went into labour Blush early stages obviously! DH had to stand next to the shower with a mirror so I could see what I was doing Blush

Once in established labour I didn't give a shit but it was nice to feel a bit 'cleaner' after giving birth.

PollyBanana · 06/03/2018 13:16

It's so sad that women feel they need to apologise for the "state" of their pubes during labour

StickStickStickStick · 06/03/2018 13:47

I agree Polly. Or the idea to remove them is cleaner etc. The whole language is of shame.

In fact as said above a lot of microabrasions just before birth is more unhygenic and room for infection!

IHateYourCarpet · 06/03/2018 13:55

If you can see your lady garden, do whatever you like Grin DONT go crazy swatting around with a razor if you can't see what you're doing.

Mintylemons · 06/03/2018 14:00

22 weeks pregnant here with 3rd. Think I’ll trim as last time they got a bit matted with the blood after.

Celticlassie · 06/03/2018 14:07

I had a (bikini) wax booked (had been getting them throughout pregnancy) but baby came early so didn't have the chance. I did shave my legs (can't remember how high!) in early labour though. If there's a next time I'll try to get waxed in time though, as it'll be a section, so there will be a super sticky dressing!
