The subject says it all really ... I’ve just been diagnosed with OC and have been told I’ll be induced at 38 weeks , I’m scared lol tell me your induction stories please ladies 🙂

My induction story is now 21 years old and 6 foot tall Grin

Seriously, it was fine. Quite intense cotractions but I've nothing else to compare it to (ds2 was a C section ) so I might just have been a wuss. Managed the whole thing with gas and air.

Hopefully you'll be fine.

I had my first with just gas and air , it was intense but I didn’t get to the hospital till I was 9cm so had no time for anything else ! I’ve got my sister telling me how being induced is so much more painful etc so now I’m bricking it Sad

I’m in the same boat, diagnosed with OC being induced in a couple of weeks. Had a natural birth with DC1 but I did end up having a drip at pushing stage.

I’m trying to think positively and hope it’s not too bad, my first labour wasn’t great anyway so this can’t be much worse (I hope)

Good luck it is a little daunting! X

user1495444352 · 03/03/2018 23:18

I think it’s just a panic because I’m not going naturally , I’m hoping I go before hand without being induced but knowing my luck I won’t lol ! Baby is really low down now it’s so painful just have to see what happens 🙂

Both mine were induced due to health issues. I didn’t have any major problems. With My DS they broke my water straight away and I just had to wait 9 hours. I had my epidural when the contractions got to much. Then with my DD I was booked in for 8am They gave me some sort of tablet, made me walk around the hospital grounds to try and bring on labour. Then after about 6 hours that didn’t work they put some kind of gel which also didn’t work, finally at 3pm they broke my waters. I started to get contractions... only in established labour for 2 hours. Didn’t have an epidural That time b3cause the contractions progressed too quickly. I think it’s better to be honest as your already where you need to be and don’t have to worry about going in to labour in a random place.

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 03/03/2018 23:33

Both were natural 😊

Ahh that’s why I asked because everyone has different opinions 🙂 I’ve heard sometimes they send you home after they start induction Is that true ?

All three of mine were born via induction of labour.

First - pessary
Second - syntocin drip
Third - propess gel type thing

All three were straightforward, rather quick at four hours of active labour (41 weeks) and three hours (39+1)to five minutes of stupidly quick active labour from four cms to fully dilated and pushing (39+2 number three)

Not how I imagined it but no horror stories here.
Babies have to come out one way or another that’s how I saw it!

All three of mine were induced.

DC1 was late, pessaries every 12 hours x3, eventually broke my waters and baby born in about 12 hours from start of active labour.

DC2 on due date as they were worried he was going to be big, broke my waters in advance of a drip and he was born before the doctor got there with the drip (syntocin ?sp) all over from no contractions to baby in under an hour! That was intense. He was 9lb so not massive but if he'd gone over...

DC3 another late one, pessaries, in hospital for what felt like forever, drip, 12 hour labour, GIANT baby with very little intervention.

Not heard of people being sent home once the process has been started but I live a long way from the hospital so possibly not an option here. All three were completely different and I have no idea what it's like to labour 'naturally' but in the end I have three amazing children from induction and I wouldn't change a thing. DC1 is an adult now and as far as I can tell it makes no bloody difference how they make their way into the world, they are all awesome people and the fact that modern medicine got them here safely is the best!

Thank you ladies , it makes me feel more at ease now as all I’ve had is horror stories 🙂 much appreciated

My first was induced at 36 weeks. It was fine. I knew from 12 weeks they would want to induce at 38 weeks due to diabetes. So I had plenty of time to read horror stories and get totally worked up.

The reality was very different. It was fine. It took 4 days of waiting for anything to happen. I had 2 pessaries and waters broken. Once the drip went up baby was born after about a 30 minute labour. Contractions were intense but I didn't have any pain relief. I couldn't believe after all that time worrying it was over. I'm pregnant again and looking forward to another induction

It’s brill to hear good stories 🙂 I feel much more at ease now , was your partner able to stay with you? I’m having my mum and husband but my mums coming in from the start as hubby is finalising things at home (with my son pets work etc )

I was on delivery suite for 4 days, dh was allowed to stay but couldn't get a decent amount of sleep so I sent him home a few times as it was clear it was going to be slow... first baby and my body was not ready

user1495444352 · 04/03/2018 08:29

Aww brilliant thank you , getting excited now 🙂

I started my induction on Saturday morning, baby arrived Monday evening. Partner had to go home overnight but that felt fine as at least he could get some decent sleep!

I ended up on the drip, it was very painful, I got an epidural - was the last thing I wanted as I’d had all the ‘cascade of interventions’ stuff drilled into me. It was wonderful - I had a nice sleep, was ready to push 4 hours later and baby was out in under an hour with just a graze for me.
It wasn’t what I wanted, but it ended up being pretty great!

Good luck! x

user1495444352 · 08/03/2018 21:28

Ahh I know it’s not what’s you wanted but atleast you wasn’t in a lot of pain for long Smile doctor called me today to say my levels are still increasing after being on Urso and the consultant wants to see me on Monday . I don’t know what to expect , will they induce earlier or just keep an eye ! It’s the not knowing what’s going on with my body that’s driving me Insain x
