Labour anxiety after forceps delivery.

I'm 23 weeks pregnant. DS is 18 moths old and we had an assisted delivery with forceps in theatre after he got distressed and heart rate dropped. He was bruised but totally perfect and I felt I'd had a positive experience however being pregnant again I'm terrified it's going to happen again.
I had the epidural which I know didn't help matters but I can't see me getting through labour without one I was vomiting and dizzy from contractions at 2 bloody cm Sad
Can I talk to anyone about my anxiety my midwife didn't seem too interested and I'm consultant lead and they dont really listen to me. I'm so scared it's all going to go wrong. BlushSad

You could ask for a birth debrief and maybe that might be an opportunity to talk about how you feel? Also you could ask if they have a midwife counsellor available that you might be able to make an appointment with to discuss what's worrying you. I saw one with my first pregnancy who was very helpful with the issues that I was experiencing.

Have you done hypnobirthing? That is a great way to manage and reduce your anxiety and makes a real difference to your ability to manage the pain and relax during contractions.

It involves effort from you in preparing yourself and listening to the hypno tapes but you will feel much more calm and confident for having invested time and effort in it. Worth doing the course too if there is one in your area.

Midwives notice real differences.

I think otherwise you will be looking at paying for therapy as birth anxiety is not the sort of thing the NHS funds generally.
