If you had two (or more) c-sections...

...did you have a similar recovery for subsequent ones?

I had a EMCS with DD (although it was only an emergency as my waters broke ahead of my elective date - elective because she was breech - it was all very chilled and I tend to think of it as "an elective without an appointment"). I had a great recovery. Little pain, could shuffle about happily within a day or so, pootle to the shops after 5 days. No problems picking her up, feeding went okay, all healed well. Lucky fucking me, eh?!

My question is: is it wildly optimistic to expect similar again? It was definitely a better than average recovery and, based on that, I have no desire to try for a VBAC. But before making that decision, I probably need to research whether I can expect a roughly similar recovery next time round? I know there are no guarantees and it will depend on circumstances - but is there any correlation between recovery experiences for multiple sections?

Two c sections second better recovery than first and the a total hysterectomy 10 years later better recovery again.

Two Emcs, (second failed VBAC), three years apart and the wrong side of 35 and both okay recovery. I actually reversed the car into our drive after my lovely MIL had picked us up from the hospital but didn't trust herself to do it. Second time round I knew to look out for and take measures to avoid trapped wind which I really suffered with the first time round.

First CS - emcs- Up dvd pottering after 24hrs, walking 2-3 miles after 2 weeks, driving after 4 weeks, running after 11 weeks.

Second CS - crash section under GA - couldn’t stand up straight for 11 weeks.

1st was emcs - pretty straight forward, out next day, standard recovery I guess
2nd was meant to be an elective but I went into labour on the day. I lost an ovary and a lot of blood, had to have a drain in for 4 days and it was so much worse than the first. But you can't count on other people's stories as it's such an individual thing and there are so many factors that come into play. Some people breeze through a cs and others have a pretty rough time

You poor thing x

1st, emergency cs, not great.
2nd, emergency cs and 3rd, planned cs, hard initially but recovered really quickly, I think because I was moving so much after dds.
4th, planned cs due to complications, took months.

2 ELCS. Easy peasy both times - walking fine within a couple of days, no pain etc.

I had an EMCS like yours with my Dc4 and then an attempted vbac ending in a "proper" EMCS a year later with dc5. Both were awful. I think the awfulness was fairly similar although there were good and bad parts to both. I really struggled with the waiting beforehand with the semi elective, I was shaking with nerves all day and then I got bumped to the next day. At least with dc5 I had 20 minutes between the registrar shouting "theatre now" to him being born so no time to be nervous.

Recovery about the same after a week or so although it was worse initially with the "proper emergency" as I had sepsis and my scar was massive as they were rushing.
